When did you get consistent NAPS?

My boys are 4.5 months and we're still working on naps although some days are getting better. They are still at 3 a day. I find I'm always on edge during naps and don't get as much done as I would like... last week whenever I'd shower they woke up!) I'm just wondering when other started to get consistent naps they could count on. I know it takes time!

I'm not sure it was consistent but I was able to figure out my girl's nap schedule around 3.5 months. I really wanted to get something down because they were starting daycare at 4 months. They didn't always stick to it, but I could kind of map it out -- wake, eat, play, nap... repeat. I think we were still feeding them every 3 hours at that point so they were getting more like 4 naps a day. I just wrote down the schedule for a couple of weeks and then could tweak it a little as needed. It wasn't until I started writing it down that I noticed any sort of pattern.

My girls are 8.5 months and still taking a quick 3rd nap per day... I think the babies who DO drop that 3rd nap early don't do so until at least 6 months. But I've started some posts here and learned that plenty of babies are like mine, and still take that 3rd cat-nap until 8, 9 or even 10 months.

    Good luck!

We are on a consistent schedule as far as when naps start - that started about 6-7 months. What is still totally inconsistent is how long they sleep - sometimes 30 minutes, sometimes 90 minutes. I find I am having to constantly tweek as they get older - their morning nap is now 30 min. later than it used to be. It drives me crazy sometimes, so I know how you feel!!

Around 6 months is when they started to get consistent with naps, meal times and bedtime. It will come.

That was true for us as well, especially with naps. Naps just did not gel for my two until 6 months.

Yeah, I really didn't worry about naps until six months. That's when they were finally sleeping in their cribs for naps and they started STTN. It will come, I promise!

I agree with the other posters - around 5 or 6 months before my girls gelled with 2 naps a day. I followed HSH,HC but was never really into the 3 nap thing - around 4pm I would let them hang out in their bouncy seats in the kitchen while I prepped dinner. Sometimes they would doze, sometimes they wouldn't. I think my schedule was down for their first nap between 9 & 9:30am; they usually woke around 11 then & had the second nap around 1 to 1:30pm. Bedtime was around 6:30 - 7pm, after their 4pm late afternoon "chill out"!

Hang in there!! It really does get better...

Consistency started to show up around 5 months, and was solidly in place by 7 months. We've been rockin' the naps for a good month now. It's so great!

I'm with the others and that 6-7mth mark...that's when I started cluing into their signs of tiredness, and just being able to get a handle on life in particular! LOL
