We just had our 9 month dr apt

    Abigail 19lbs. 4oz
    Mason 19lbs. 8oz

and our pedi told us we could start giving them milk  I thought you did that when they turned a year old. My sister whol has the same pedi for her son said he told her to wait till a year????

What did you do or what were you told?

    I'm confused

We waited until a year also. This was what the ped recommended. But our girls were little squirts. They were barely 20 lbs at the yr appt. Matter of fact I think brooke was a few ounces shy of 20 then. The Ped actually reccommended we give them only whole milk to drink (no water, no juice) until they were 2 yrs old. So that mostly what they girl drank except for special occations. :)

We actually had to wait until abt 15 months to have them on straight whole milk. They had REALLY bad reflux and were on 2 meds and Nutramagin formula for that. At 13 months we started adding it in 1 ounce/week subsitution for formula (starting with 7 oz formula with 1 oz milk) until we were finalyl at all milk (when they were 15 months old).

With Grant I started him at abt 10 months. The pedi said it was fine. He was being exclusively bf before this and the pedi told me to start giving him whole milk in a sippy cup. He would never take a bottle, so that is why we started ona sippy at 10 months.

I waited till one year when the ped said it was ok. But my neice was moved to milk at around 9 or 10 months. She was a big baby and still is weighing in at 28lbs at her 18month check up.

I started giving my twins a little milk at about 11 months because they still needed formula.

Our ped actually does start his patients on milk at 9 months. So my oldest DD did start at 9 months.

Since the twins were preemies we did wait until 1 year before starting them on milk.

We did 12 mo here, but i was told the only reason for the 12 mo precaution is so parents don't think its an ok substitution for formula or breast milk. We gave other milk products WELL before 12 mo (6 mo?)

I give whole milk in a sippy cup once a day. However, they still get two bottles of formula in the morning and at bedtime. I am planning to switch next week when they turn ONE!

if your children drink regular formula (not soy) it is a milk product. the no milk rule is more for the nutrition in the formula. my boys are fabulous eaters ( thank God) and my ped told me the same thing at nine months. i first tried it in their cereal, all was well and we eventually went to bottles.
ps-- i use organic, i just prefer it.

I started incorporating milk at 11.5 months mine were allergic to milk and soy but my pedi told me from the beginning they would be on formula for the first year.

I started introducing whole milk around 11 months and went to sippy cups of only milk at 12 months, per the pedi.

We switched at about 10 months to whole milk. We phased it in over about a weeks time. We would do bottles of 1/2 formula & 1/2 milk then 1/3 formula & 2/3 milk. My pedi says a year but mine were eating table food already and lots of variety & I felt like it was time. I think the year rule is more of a guideline to go by. They made the switch easily. BTW, I did wait until a year for whole milk with my DS but I'm more relaxed this go around about everything.

We went cold turkey to whole milk at 11 months. We did a little happy dance to be finished with formula!

Our pedi said to wait until 12 months. We gave it for the first time 2 days before their one year birthday.
