When did you find out about twins?

It seems like most people find out pretty early on that they are having twins. I was wondering when did everyone find out that they were having twins. If you found out later rather than sooner, did you have a ultrasound early and they missed it.

I found out at 7 weeks. I already knew though. I went into the dr and she started the ultrasound and I told her that i had been looking forward to that appt because I kept dreaming that I was having twins and I wanted her to put that worry to rest. She said I can't Congrats on your twins!!! Ahhhhhhh. I was soooooooooooo scared. But from the day I found out I never called it baby I always said babies and they. Wierd how a mothers intuition kicks in.

i found out at an u/s at 6w3d. Here's what happened: I went to doc, said I was 6 weeks pregnant. She said, no, you're 9 weeks pregnant. i said, impossible - I'm 6 weeks along. She said the only way to know for sure was to do an u/s. They did one that day. The tech immediately said i was 6 weeks, but then she kept looking around. Eventually she asked, Did you do fertility? i said, no, why? she said, b/c there are two in there - you're having twins. Needless to say, DH and i were stunned . . .

That said, I think a lot of women on here found out later - i think us 6-7 weekers are not necessarily the norm.

I found out early on as well; about 7 weeks. I was sooo sick (hyperemesis) that they wanted to check to see if there were two.

I found out at 7 weeks. I was bleeding and thought it was a m/c and they performed the u/s and said nope....quite the opposite.

We actually found out at 5 weeks...but then again we were doing IVF and it was a routine u/s sort of thing.

I found out at 7w, 4d. We did IUI and it was a routine ultrasound. It was a little surprising because they had checked my levels after we found out I was pregnant and the nurse said, "I really think there is only one".

But we are very happy we found out so early on.

We found out at 11 weeks but the second ultrasound. We had an ultrasound at 6 weeks (my dr routinely does them on the first visit) and he wasn't able to see alot so he wanted to do another one at 10-11 weeks. As he was doing the ultrasound he looked at the nurse in the room and said "remember we were redoing this one because we couldn't really see much" then he turned back to me and said "well we got more then we bargained for.....there is a heartbeat and there is another heartbeat" I was in total shock but thrilled.

I did have an early u/s at 6.5 weeks and my OB only found one baby. Granted, we weren't looking for two. When I went in for u/s at 12 weeks, there were 2 babies!! It was most definitely the shock of my life.

We found out at 13 wks and that is only because I requested a u/s. My doc also thought I was crazy because I just "knew" I was having twins so he went ahead and ordered the u/s for us!! Otherwise I dont think we would have found out until 24 wks!!

I found out a little after 4 weeks because we had done infertility treatments. My beta numbers were pretty high so they wanted to do an u/s asap.

6 1/2 -7 weeks with both pgs, but I have a history of m/c's so they do early ultrasounds on me.

We found out we were having twins at our 8 week ultrasound. The ultrasound tech had a strange look on her face. I asked her what was wrong and she said God has blessed you twice. Talk about being completely shocked. I thought dh was going to fall out of his chair.

[IMG] We found out at 11 weeks. I went in for my first OB appt and my OB routinely does a quick u/s at the first visit! We were so surprised and so excited to see two little babies on the screen!!!

We found out at 21-1/2 weeks at our first u/s. Quite a surprise since I didn't have any of the "typical" twins symptoms (no early weight gain, no morning sickness) and my OB had only heard 1 heartbeat on the doppler (or so we thought) on two different occasions. So no reason to suspect twins before our first u/s!

I had an ultrasound at 11 weeks and told I was only having one baby. We went in at 21 weeks to find out the sex and found out about our Double Blessings.

We found out at 11 wks! We had our first u/s at 6 wks & the doc only saw one baby. Then at the second u/s we all saw two little heartbeats!! Incredible! [IMG]

I was 10 weeks when I found out. Because I was measuring larger than with a single pregnancy they gave me an U/S and there were two little sacs on the screen... it was very neat.

We found out at 17 weeks. I measured big at my 12 week appointment, something that had never happened, but the doctor attributed that to it being my eighth pregnancy. I questioned her if it might be twins. She said, "No." At my next appointment I had gained 10 pounds in five weeks and measured 23 weeks. She ordered an ultrasound right away! Sure enough twins.

    Hi and Welcome to TS!

I found out at 8 weeks we were expecting twins. We specificlly did a "how many" u/s since I had been on Clomid.

We found out at our first u/s at 18 weeks. DH knew it all along since I was quite a bit larger than with our singleton, but I was convinced that I could only feel one very active baby moving around, and besides, second pregnancies tend to make women bigger faster (or so I thought!) We were thrilled, and I was stunned. We'd heard the heartbeat---singular---two or three times already. I'd conceived the boys on my first round of 50 mg Clomid, and my doctor warned me not to get my hopes up of conceiving on the first month, and twins virtually never happen on your first dose. I guess I was doubly lucky!

I found out at 7w5d. I will never forget the moment when the u/s tech said "there's two" I was in complete shock since we had an u/s at 5w4d and saw only a gestational sac. Later on it was confirmed that they were identical mo/di twins.

I kinda just answered this one on the other thread but I love hearing everyone's story, its just so exciting!!!

We did injectibles bc of my history of mc. My numbers were sky high so when I went for my first u/s at 4w6d the re actually said he was afraid to put the wand in bc he was afraid at how many he would see. We saw 4 sacs (since I have a huge history of blighted ovums...I wasn't to concerned yet). One of them had a yolk sac at that apt. At my 5w6d appt my re put the wand in and said "I thought you said only one would have a heartbeat". Because of my history thats all I thought there would be...I asked how many had hb's. He said "all 4". It was truly amazing..

With my first set we found out at 6 weeks. I had a past history of miscarriage so had early ultrasounds. At 5 weeks u/s only showed a gestational sac. For this set we found out at 7 weeks, our first ultrasound, and the girls each measured 6 wks. 6 days.

I had this strange feeling BEFORE I got pregnant that I would have twins, and so did a friend of mine, so when I went for the first ultrasound at 6 1/2 weeks, my DH asked the doctor how many were in there. She looked all around and said she only saw one. So, we were very surprised at our 20 week ultrasound when the tech said "You know there are two in there."
