ours are heading twards 17 months old and are still naping twice a day.
they still sleep at both naps and laugh and play between the two cribs in there room when they are in there.
in a way i am looking forward to droping down to one nap so we can do more things during the day without worring about
being home in time for naps. but at the same time i do enjoy there nap times so i can get things done.
so was wondering when you droped your first nap and why you did?
    thanks :D

Ours dropped it at around 19 months. They started not really sleeping during the second one, so I eliminated the first.

We are in the process now of dropping the first nap. At around 16 1/2 mths my son started to not really sleep for his second nap so I started waking him at 10 am from his first nap (I put him down at 9 am), if he slept in that hour fine if not it was his rest time. Then I would just put him down a littler earlier for he second nap if he didn't nap in the morning. Now at 18mths he only goes down for a morning nap if he wakes up earlier than usual (usualy wakes around 7 so if he is up between 6 and 6:30 then he needs a morning nap). So maybe two or three times a week he gets a morning nap and even if he wakes up early I try not to give him the morning nap but usually he's to cranky to try to keep up.

I your girls are still napping for both and it's not causeing any problems then I wouldn't switch it until they are either just not napping in the morning or if the morning nap is effecting the afternoon nap. I'm sure they could go with out a morning nap here and there, but would need to be put down earlier for the afternoon one.

With Joel we dropped it at around 15 months or so. With the twins at around the same time. With Joy, we dropped it really early! Around 10-12 months or so. The poor child had no choice, I had to pick up and drop off kids at school and stuff. So she ended up going down at 12:00pm and sleeping until 3:30 or 4:00pm... I was home with the others anyway, so it worked out for us. She is still napping for about 2 hours a day and sometimes the twins will still nap for a few hours...

Mine went down to one nap at 17 months. This was in July and I did it then to prepare for school starting up again at the end of Aug. for my oldest DD. It was just getting too hard to get the twins down for 2 naps during her school day (we have to take her and pick her up since we walk to school).

I think it was around 14 mos when they dropped the morning nap. They were napping for about 3 hours in the morning and then not at all in the afternoon, so I had to gradually move the nap time up to after lunch. It was a work in progress. It is nice to be able to do things in the morning now, although sometimes I still do miss those morning naps! It sounds like you have a nice arrangement there!

At 15 mos our twins dropped to 1 nap for the afternoon. They nap from 10 to 12 30 because they are still early riser at 6 AM. I like our schedule as they get to watch their favorite Disney show early morning, breakfast, play time, and then down to a nap. We get to go places without worrying about nap in the afternoon as they get really tired and goes to bed at 730 PM.

Mine took 2, 2 hour naps a day until 18 months when they dropped to 1, 3 hour nap a day. And we're still going strong w/ naps at almost 4.

KEEP THE NAP!! We're down to one and ohmygosh, I feel like I never get a chance to get anything done anymore.

But seriously, we dropped the first nap right around 16 months. My girls would nap well for one and most often spend the other in there fooling around and not sleeping, or only sleeping for a very short while. Mine definitely showed signs of going down to one nap.

    :good: I agree!

We went down to one nap at 18 months. My dd would have dropped it sooner, but ds needed two. Once he started fighting the second nap, and wanting to sleep for 3 hours during his morning nap, it was time to go down to one.

Like Amy, we switched to one nap in preparation for the next school year. We did it in July when they were 13mos. It started out with lunch at 11 and nap from 11:30 to 2 or 2:30. Gradually shifted it to 12 then 12:30. I needed to get them up at 2:30 to get the kids from school. Now that they are closer to three, they go down anywhere between 12 and 1:30 and sleep for 2 to 3 hrs but never later than 4. It's so nice to have that flexiblity now!
