    Hi,

My babies are just now starting to eat more solids, baby food in jars (still) and crackers. I notice now that they are taking more solids it's getting trickier to get a fourth bottle in. Should I just go ahead and drop a bottle? They are 9 months old tomorrow. They would still be getting 24 oz. of formula total in the other three bottles. TIA :) .

I just got Natalie where she would eat 4 bottles. I know I am no help. I give her one at 8, 12, 4, 8. Before that she was eating 5 a day at 8, 12, 3, 6, 8. Nathan breastfeeds at the same times plus one more time around 5 am.

At 9 months, my girls dropped that 4th bottle. When in doubt, ask your ped, but I think you will be fine letting them drop it.

BTW, around 12 months, my girls dropped the 3rd bottle. Which worked out well because the Ped wanted them switched to milk, but a max of 16 oz a day at that time.

I'm glad you asked this because this is something I was thinking about for the future!

Edited because my brain is slow today....

We dropped to 3 bottles at 11 months but I would think 24 ounces is fine if they are losing interest. You can also try and squeeze in some ounces in a sippy. Good luck!

Thanks for your replies everyone. They have been helpful. Since they've dropped down to 4oz. in the bottle just before bed, we decided to just prepare a 4oz. bottle then, instead of 8oz. like we've been doing. We'll just keep the other three bottles at 8oz.

We also have an appt. with their dr. this coming Monday. So we've got questions about getting them on cow's milk at 12 months and how we should wean on bottles. Also, questions about what he'd like us to do with solids between now and 1 year old. Although, I've got some pretty good ideas on what to do after reading TS ;) .

We just dropped down to 3 bottles a week or two ago. They suddenly weren't finishing their bottles - especially the one right before bedtime. I figured with 3 meals a day and sometimes a snack they just didn't need the 4th one anymore. They adjusted just fine and didn't seem to miss it. So now they get three 8 oz bottles (before it was two 8 oz and two 7 oz).

Now if I could just figure out what else to feed them (solids, I mean). I'm at a loss!

We dropped around 10ish months and replaced the mid-day bottle with a snack and a sippy of water.

Yes, I'd let them drop it. Mine take 24 ounces a day, 4 bottles, and they have for awhile. They are eating every 2 hours, but they have solids then 2 hours later a bottle, then 2 hours later solids, 2 hours bottle, 2 hours solids and then a final bottle before bed. Plus I give them a couple of snacks in between when I am eating a snack.

What kind of crackers are yours eating? So far I've gotten my girls to eat real toast, cheese, yogurt, puffs, and cheerios. I haven't tried any crackers yet.

We're still on 4 bottles, after breakfast, lunch, afternoon nap, and before bed. We tried dropping down and offering a snack/sippy after their afternoon nap but they were having none of it. They don't drink 8 ounce bottles though, DD has never finished more than 6 ounces at a sitting in her life, so that's probably why.

My boys are 10 mos and drink 4 bottles 6 oz each. They have never really drank a full 8 oz after starting jar foods. We're trying to start giving them their sippies more, but they only finish a few oz then.
