the babies are now both getting to sleep on their own, but i am reluctant to do it when they wake up at night. However, since DD is doing it more this last week i am getting up the guts to do it tonight, but was wondering when you all started thanks sandra
5 1/2 months for naps. they still cry when i put them down a lot of the time. (like right now <_< ) and we haven't done it at night... they started to sleep thru the night 2 weeks ago, but marina's been getting up earlier nad earlier (for the day), and i know i'm going to need to do CIO, but i don't have the guts, yet, either.
Around 5 months, but we mostly did it for falling asleep at bedtime. By 5 months Sarah had already stopped waking at night, and Amy continued to need a feeding at night until 13 months! (I did try CIO for that one at 9 months, but she outlasted me.) We didn't do it for naps until more like 6-7 months, because they're in daycare M-F (no CIO allowed), and they took all their weekend naps in the stroller until they were 7 months and it was getting too hot. (FWIW, taking naps in the stroller didn't hurt them in the long run -- they transitioned pretty well to taking them in bed instead.)
I did CIO with DD at 4 months old. I have yet to do CIO with DS b/c he is very very very overly needy. He cries a lot of the time if I just put him down. DD is more independent so we did CIO with her and it worked well. Sometimes she still will cry for 5 min. before going to sleep. I am just chicken to do it with DS.
I never had to do CIO to GET them to sleep but around 10 months I couldn't take the night wakings anymore so we did it and it took TWO NIGHTS! That's IT! I recommend it.
I did CIO with all of my boys, my girls slept through on their own. Justin-9 months Josh-7 months Jacob-6 months
5 1/2 months for Sara. Julian never needed it. Only for night waking -- they go to sleep really well. It took 2 days and sara has been a great sleeper ever since. I highly recommend getting some earplugs, though -- I never could have outlasted her if I didn't have them.
We started doing CIO right after the boys 10 month appt. Our ped. said they were quite able to STTN. Before we did it we had to rock them to sleep EVERY night + about 15 minutes to make sure they were really sleeping. They were also still getting up for 1-2 bottles at night, and I was so SICK of getting up. When we started it only took about a week for them to be able to fall asleep on their own. They usually don't even cry when we put them in bed now. Our problem now is still night wakings!!! I'v cut out the bottle for the most part, but sometimes they get up at 5am and I feel bad b/c it has been so long sence their last feeding. I usually give in <_< . I'm not sure if thats the "right thing" to do or not?
