When did you baby start holding their own bottle?

So my boys are 9 months, but only 6 months adjusted. they are not really showing that much interest in holding their own bottle. One of my DS will hold it after he is done eating, but doens't ever try when I am actually feeding him. The other doesn't go for it at all. So just wondering when yours started drinking from the bottle themselves?

One of my DS just started to hold his bottle a few weeks ago and the other one still doesn't want anything to do with holding it. They hold and drink out of their sippies just fine and have been doing that for about a month. Luckily we will be done with the bottles soon, hopefully tonight!! I was so hoping they would hold their own bottles much sooner but I quickly realized that if they did they would control how much they drank and I wanted to get them to drink as much formula as possible so I really did't push them holding their bottles after that.

My girls are 9 months and neither hold their bottle. One doesn't try at all. The other gets the concept of holding it, but she would much rather her Mommy do it! ;-) She, too, will hold it after its empty, but can't figure out how to turn it up to feed.

My girls are 7 months old and they hold their own bottle. It seems that they prefer it- I think they realized they can eat sooner since they don't have to wait for me to get both of them situated to eat! I do have to help them when it gets toward the end because I don't want them to suck air.

I think it was 10/11 months. It started happening more when they got better with sippy cups.

Mine just started a few weeks ago. They still don't do it very well, but I think, especially with my DD, it's because they don't want to. If we grab the bottle for her at all to try to help her, she drops her hands, and is totally satisfied to let us do it.

If we don't touch the bottle, she has to work with it a little, but she figures out how to get it up there in her mouth. We use Dr. Brown's for her, and she definitely seems to have more trouble than DS - we use Avent for him because he's never had reflux issues. It seems like it might be easier with the wider bottles, but I don't know if it's that or just DS is more willing.

I don't know much about my boys yet (as they are only 7 weeks old), but my daughter started to hold her bottle at 4.5 months.
She was, and still is very independent. But some kids don't want to do it at all! Isn't it so much easier when mommy does it for us? :)

Neither of my older kids even tried to hold their own bottle. My ds was off bottles at 11 months and my dd at 13 months.

Neither of the twins shows any interest in holding theirs either.

Some kids do, some don't! :) I wouldn't hold your breath about it, your boys may decide they enjoy the snuggles of mommy/daddy/whoever holding them and the bottle!

Mine can do it, but they don't want to. I've made them hold their bottles and they did fine, but if I show them the bottle when they are hungry, they just cry and open their mouths, but they don't try and grab it.

Never haha! We just got rid of bottles but neither of them ever held them. They would occasionally but as soon as we helped tip it up or something like that they let it go. Enjoy the cuddle time with them:)

Thanks for the info ladies--I thought almost all babies held their bottles, so it's great to get reassurance from here that many don't!!

By now they can both hold their bottles. However, it didn't come naturally! When they were like 6 months I started putting their hands on the bottle everytime during feeding.

The girls cling on for dear life but haven't grasped the concept of tipping the bottle up yet, i think they are just being lazy really lol Now they are starting to drop bottles i am not sure it will happen.
