When did they notice each other?

It may be wishful thinking, but I think they may be becoming aware of who the other one is. They sleep in the same crib and when I put them on their backs they will both put their arm up and put their hands on top of each other. A few days ago I was holding them both and Evan started to cry. Cameron reached his arm over and laid it on Evan's shoulder. He did it twice in a row and has not repeated it. Also, they are beginning to stare at one another whereas before it was like they couldn't even see each other when they were looking right at each other.

Can this really be the beginning of interaction between them or is it still too early?

    Hey Stacy,
They may be noticing each other. Mine didn't start until around 4-5 months or so. And even now, Mattie pays more attention to Lauren than Lauren does to Mattie. Lauren is a stuck up.. [IMG]

It was almost four months for my girls, not to say yours wouldn't do it sooner! [IMG] We used to laugh because we would put them face to face and they would look anywhere but at each other.

Mine 'knew' the other was there around 4 months, but they didn't start interacting with one another until 5-6 months.

They noticed each other before turning 3 months of age, probably around the age of your little ones. They noticed each other while nursing, which made it difficult to nurse as they were popping off and smiling at one another. They recently started interacting with each other. I will place a toy in between them and they will try to take it out of each other's hands. I love watching them together.

Mine noticed each other around 4 months. They would smile at each other - but only after the 7pm feeding, who knows why.

They JUST started to "talk" to each other yesterday while in their cribs. They laugh at each other through the slats. I wouldn't say that they interact much in the way that you'd think of playmates, but it's getting close.

My DS noticed his sister a lot sooner than she noticed him. He has been noticing her about the age your babies are now. My DS has just started to notice her brother at 3 months. She will now look at him when he makes noises or is crying.

My doctor always said with twins in the beginning they seem to just think the other one is an extension of themselves and it takes a while before they see them as a separate person. Mine started to really notice each other around 3 months, now when one cries the other starts in too, they suck on each others hands, feet, etc., take toys away, and in the crib no matter how I put them in when I come back they are closer together. It is just so cute! [IMG]

For me it all started in the hospital. One of the night nurses told me 1 day after they were born that they would sleep longer between feedings at night when they were in the same bassinet. At home with them they would always hold hands or want to touch each other while sleeping. I have pictures of them smiling at each other when they were only a few weeks old. I'm not sure if they were consciously aware of each other or like a PP said just thought they were an extention of themselves. Either way it is the most amazing thing to see. I love the twin bond.

Mine were rarely together for the first 2-3 months -- they slept separately, got fed separately, etc. So it was about 4 months that I started feeling like they were even aware there was another baby in the room. Around 6 months, we started noticing that they would look happy to see the other baby. They would play near each other or pass toys back & forth -- not really sharing, but a basic form of recognition.

It was about that time when they noticed each other. Nevan started about 2.5 months reaching for Norah and crying if she's not there. Norah is indifferent to him except when he makes faces at her, then she laughs!

My girls have just started doing the same thing. I was wondering if they were really noticing each other or if it was a coincidence. Maybe they really are noticing each other.

I think ours are starting to notice each other...Becca "appeared" to reach for Jake last week, but it's hard to tell.

Mine first noticed each other at 3.5 months. It is so sweet. Now they are stealing each other's toys, pacis, etc. They also smile and talk to each other. Such a joy!
