When did the second nap evolve?

    Right now, H&J go for a nap at 930/10 and sleep until 12/1230. The rest of the day is iffy. What time should I start working towards for a second nap? I know it is very early for them but I would like a goal to work towards.

    I'm probably not going to be much help here but my kids, their naps were all over the place until about 6 months old :wacko: They pretty much just napped whenever and wherever during the day at 2 months. For me it was around 6 months that they kind of put themselves on a 2-3-4 nap schedule: 1st nap 2 hours after wake up, 2nd nap 3 hours after waking from first nap, and (in our case) bedtime 3.5- 4 hours after the 2nd nap.

    I want to say it was between 5 and 6 months. Hang in there!

    For us the 2nd nap came at about 6 months. My LOs still take 3 naps a day. The problem is that they are still kind of short, especially for DS (40-90 minutes).

    I would work towards maybe a 2:30 or 3:00 nap. Is that what you were asking? I think mine settled into a nap schedule around 5 or 6 months.

    I think ours started around 5-6mos. The boys still can't stay awake for longer than 2.5hrs and at 2mos probably couldn't stay awake for long than 90min. So I would probably put them down around 2. That's fantastic if they are consistently taking a 3 hr nap for you during the day - WTG Momma!!

    2:30 or 3 is what I was thinking too. At that age mine couldn't go any longer than 2-2.5hrs before needing a nap. It wasn't until around 6 months that we got into a predictable routine of waking at 6:30am nap at 9am, nap at 12 and nap at 3:30-4ish and bedtime at 7:30pm
