    Hi Mommies,

May I kindly ask you at what time after delivery did the bleeding stop. Also, about your 1st time period after stopping breastfeeding, was it very heavy or normal and how many days it lasted?

I've heard that after 40 days from delivery the bleeding stop, but mine exceeded that period. also, one week after stopping breastfeeding I got my period which is taking quite a bit of time. So I wonder whether it's still a bleeding from delivery or a very heavy period.

Many thanks in advance for your replies.

I bled for 4 weeks post c-section this time. After I stopped breastfeeding the first cycle lasted 13 days. The first period was very heavy and quite painful. The second was better (7days) but still heavy.

I bled anywhere from 4-12 weeks after I had my kids. My periods usually followed within a month after I stopped the PP bleeding. Have you been for your PP check-up?

For my c-section (twins), I bled until I was 7.5 weeks pp. With Evan (VBAC), it was closer to 4 weeks I think.

I bled for 9 weeks after my c-section - so roughly 63 days. It was very heavy to heavy for the first 5 to 6 weeks and then tapered down to 9. I stopped bfing early, and I can't remember when I got my first period after the 9 weeks stopped. Isn't that awful that I can't remember?

I went back to work still bleeding, so 11 weeks PP.

Of course, since having the children, my period has been extremely heavy but no clots or cramps or PMS, just 7 days of spewing blood.

I've been to my PP check-up 3 weeks ago, and the dr. did a smear test with an ultrasound and told me that everything is OK.

By the way, what do you mean by "anywhere"?

LOL! I have given birth 4 times, and all 4 times have been different. Sorry for the confusion!

I bled for almost 6 weeks postpartum (c-section), and still haven't gotten my period even though I'm down to nursing only twice a day!

I bled for 4-5 weeks after birth. I stopped nursing at 7.5 months, and got my period when they were a week shy of 9 months. For me, it was fairly normal. I have usually had somewhat heavy periods. It lasted 5 or 6 days I think.

I bled for 7 weeks PP. I stopped BF at 3 weeks PP and I got my period back at about 11 weeks PP and it was very very heavy. I had heavy periods for about the first 4 and now it is back to normal.

Mine lasted for about 6 weeks. Since then my periods have been painless and short.

I bled for about 8 weeks (vaginal delivery). I haven't gotten my period yet, probably because I am breastfeeding.

im in my 5th week PP and still bleeding somewhat. By that i mean i no longer have to wear a pad, but when i wipe after peeing, there is still dark red/brown blood. Not alot, but enough to be noticed. im hoping it goes away soon, as DH is more than ready to have his wife again.

Kenneth and Ian are 5 weeks old

I had a vaginal birth and bled for just over 4 weeks postpartum, although it did taper off toward the end - it was just light spotting by that point.

I don't want to alarm you but keep an eye on your bleeding. If you feel like it's getting worse, get to a doctor. mine seemed to be ending at 6 weeks but came back fast and furious and required a d&c and then subsquent delivery of part of a placenta at 8 weeks. I knew something was wrong when it got worse at 6 weeks but my doctor said it was just my period. She obviously changed her tune when I delivered part of a placenta two weeks later in the ER. Trust your instincts!

Thanks. But since the 11-12 weeks period was mentioned here, I think that I am still within the normal range. It's very weird though how pp bleeding differ from one person to another!

I've re-read your reply and worry because in my case it seems that the bleeding is to an end, then when I do some physical exercise for instance it's heavy again. Anyhow, I'll just wait a bit and see.

ditto. I'm just glad I'm no longer having PMS or cramp or swollen breast!

After my c-section I bled for 4 months! I also had my IUD inserted at my 6 week appt. so that might have been a cause for it as well.
