When did stop using high chairs and move to boosters?

I was just reading the other thread about boosters and was wondering at what age did you move to them. My boys just turned a year so I know I have a little time. I'm just getting really tired of them since they are so big and bulky (Fisher Price Rain Forest).

    Thanks!

We switched to boosters at 12mos. I could push the chairs under the table when the babies weren't eating. They used them with the trays until about 20 mos (I think) and then they moved to the table. Just last month we took the boosters out completely. I loved not having the big bulky high chairs to deal with!

Jack and Lily had been trying to escape their highchairs for a good while. We finally gave up in December and decided to try boosters. I went through all of this research but just could not find a booster that I liked or that seemed safe with our armless high back chairs. For some reason I thought to try them on the dining room chairs just to see how much growing that they would have to do before they were big enough. Turns out, they are totally able to sit (not even kneel) on the chairs and now mealtime is really really nice. I can sit at the table and eat breakfast or lunch with them (Dh and I still eat dinner after they go to bed) and they fit just fine. We are just sure to push the chairs all the way in so that their mouths are practically at the table. They seem to love it (so far) and mealtime is enjoyable and can even last longer than 10 minutes. At dinner Dh and I sit with them while they eat and I encourage them to tell Daddy what they did, who they saw, and how it made them feel - it is my favorite part of the day.

So, I have no booster reccomendations but will say to try your chairs first, they just might work!

We switched to boosters without the trays at 17 mos. They had been using the boosters with the trays since they could sit any time we would travel, so it wasn't a huge novelty. I wanted them to still have straps, which is good b/c they pull against them a lot still!

We started using our booster seats in the house when the boys were climbing in there high chairs (around 13 months). Our dinningroom and livingroom are one big room so I was folding them up and moving them to the kitchen after EVERY meal b/c they wouldnt stay off them. That got old fast and I gave in. Not to mention that they could get the trays off while they were eatting and instead of throwing all their food off they would take their tray off and the tray along with all the food would crash to the floor!
We use to keep the boosters in the van just b/c it was nice to have them (most people dont have 1 let alone 2 highchairs). Anyway...we got fisherprice ones. They are great for travel. The straps can be used like a bag to carry them, so that is a big help. They fold up very nice, and they are working great in the house. It's nice to have the extra space in the dinningroom back!

We never used them. At 18 months, we lowered their high chairs to table height, and they ate that way. Somewhere around 2 1/2, they started choosing between the lowered high chair, and the regular chairs, once I realized it had been about a months since they had really used the high chairs, we packed them up.

Honestly- We never used high chairs and went straight to the boosters with a tray right when we started feeding them baby food and could sit up. Our kitchen is tiny and we never had space for high chairs.

We never used highchairs, always boosters. They eat at the table 50% of the time and with the trays 50%, they still tend to bang things on the table when they want to get out and I don't want too much damage to my table!
