When can you put them in the stroller w/o the carseat?

Just wondering...We have the graco duoglider. I have no idea how long we need to use the carseat.

    Thanks!

We used the Duo when they were younger, and I took them out of their seats a few times. I found that they tended to slip off to one side or another since we didn't have the 5-point harness seatbelt..not sure if they are all like that. I think it's better, although hotter, to leave them in their seats until they are able to hold themselves up a little.

Ours are 7 month old preemies (adjusted age 5 months) and I just started doing that within the past week. So far so good. I agree with Becky, wait until they can hold themselves a little bit.

If you can support them in the stroller, you can put them in there anytime. I remember putting mine in around 3-4 months without the carseats. They did fine with it - they had the 5 pt harness and the head support that came with the duoglider. I also remember tilting their seats back so they were kind of laying down and wouldn't fall forward. Try it out in your house and see how they do before taking the chance while you are out and about.

I waited until they could sit up, which was around 7 months. Only because I didn't use the stroller during the cold weather.

I waited until they held themselves up pretty well, I'd say around 6-7 months.

When ours started sitting up we stopped using the car seats with them.

We have been taking our twins out of the car seats almost from the beginning. When they were newborns I was able to put both of them in the rear seat together so my 2 1/2 year old could sit in the front seat. For the last month and half I put one twin in each seat. The front seat reclines and does have the 5-point harness so the baby is secure and not rolling around. Sophie actually loves to lay in the front seat looking up at the sky with her feet dangling. The rear seat is great if one of the babies is asleep since it fully reclines. Otherwise the seat sits pretty straight up so I use a blanket to prop the baby to keep her from falling over. The seat also has a "flap" around the bottom that you can pull up to keep the baby from falling out under the tray. I also felt like the infant seats were so restrictive so I don't like putting them in there if I don't have to. Of course it's much easier to leave them in the car seats if we are running a quick errand somewhere. My twins will be 3 months on Sunday.

I put mine in a seat together until they no longer fit together. All last summer I used a single stroller instead of my double. It was great.

I still use the carsets, although by now they should be fine without them ... we tried a few weeks ago and Chase was fine but Con slumped over and wasn't having the best time of it. It's just easier for me to unhook the carseat and clip it in the stroller for errands than undo them out of the carseat in the van, put them in the stroller, then back to carseat ... but for walks, I think I'll try no carseat!!!

We just started a couple of weeks ago with the duoglider, with no car seats using the 5 point harnesses. But if they are sleepy or I think they'll nap I still put them in the car seats.
