My girls have had blankets since day 1...Right now we are using some really heavy, wooly type blankets. They are really soft and the girls love them!

the pedi said at one year i think that blankets were fine. they end up rolling all over the place and the blankets are all bunched up. they are laying all over them. i have 2 fleecey type blankets and a quilt.

Mine have had blankets since day one in their cribs (3 months) but I used to dress them in footie pj's (still do when it is cold) and a small (receiving blanket size) fleece like blanket...since about a year they have a bigger slightly heavier blanket but I have never used their comforter that came with the crib set yet. I also have a toddler sleepsac but they need to be a bit taller and my one son is not too happy aobut it. They always have very warm pj's on though because they never leave their blankets on and I used to be able to recover but they have crib tents now.

My ds has had a blanket with him in his crib since he turned one. He loves his soft blanket. I tried with dd but she never kept it on her, she's still in a sleeping sack.

Our blankets are for snuggling rather than warmth but I let them have blankets once they were crawling. We use a waffle weave blanket with satin binding. They wear blanket sleepers or toddler sleepsacks for warmth.

I think I started giving them blankets once I was sure they could roll, maybe 6 months?

Mine are 18 months and we still haven't given them blankets. We are ultra-conservative on safety issues and are planning to wait until they are 2 before we give blankets and pillows. We tried giving them tiny little "loveys" to snuggle with, but they are so used to not having anything in the cribs, they immediately throw them out anyway.

6 months I gave them each a crocheted blanket - more for security...it solved my DD's sleeping issues immediately...they now sleep with a stuffed zebra and the same blanket - they don't really stay covered (fleect footie pj's) but it does wonders for having something to cuddle at night!

We've gotten so many blankets as gifts but the boys don't use any of them. They move around so much in their sleep that we never gave them blankets and used fleece sleepsacks instead. Now they don't want anything in their cribs - not even loveys.

They got light receiving blankets starting right away in their cribs, then we moved to a really light fleece, and now (starting this fall) we give them a bit heavier of a fleece blanket - it's cold in Michigan!

My girls were swaddled until about 4 months so I guess you would say they had blankets. Once they started rolling over and moving around really well, I started covering them with receiving blanket. They also have several small stuffed animals in their cribs which they constantly are snuggled with.

Thanks everyone. Our girls have lots of stuffed toys in their beds so i decided giving them a crocheted blanket each was ok, they both dont seem to know what to do with it, i cover them with them when they go for naps/sleep but it's off quite quickly!

Ditto pp. Mine snuggle and don't cover up. DS uses his as a pillow, so I think I'll be getting a pillow soon!

I have tried the whole covering up when they go to bed, but they don't get it yet. They want to move around, stand up, talk to each other before going to sleep.

All of my kids have always used pillows and blankets. Lighter ones in the summer and heavier ones in the winter.
