When can they migrate from a snap-n-go to a regular seat stroller

At what point can the girls come out of their car seats into a stroller with just a regular harness? Do they have to be full on sitting up on their own? I feel like an idiot asking but- well, these are my first children!

I'm thinking about the stroller issue (what a change!); we have the double snap-n-go which is great from a convenience standpoint in terms of the car, but it's not exactly highly manipulable, especially on city streets.

    tks!

With most strollers, they can go into the stroller as a newborn even without the carseat. You just need to be sure the seat can recline and double check what the manufacturer's guidelines, but most are suitable for newborns and young infants. The carseats were made to snap into the stroller more as a matter of convenience than safety, similar to the carseat bases that were introduced at the same time. You definately don't need to wait until they are sitting to feel comfortable using the stroller. Don't feel like an idiot...you're doing a great job!

I started using mine at 2 weeks of age ... seats fully reclined. It's funny because back home (Europe) we're told to limit time in car seats as much as possible, so you would never have a snap n go as a "main" stroller. Most people use bassinets. I would only use the snap n go to places where I would use the car. For walks I always use a regular stroller. I think it also helped that my babies were well over 7 1/2 lbs each at birth. When they're smaller, you may want to wait a little longer, but it also depends on the stroller you have.

Many strollers I've seen say that it's safe to use after 6 months of age - just check the manufacturer guidelines for your stroller. We used our Double Snap-N-Go until 6 months at which point they had outgrown their infant car seats (height). They did great in a regular stroller at this age.

We just started about a month ago without the car seats. We have the duo glider and we just bought a sbs stroller. My babies love it too. They can finally see whats going on around them. But I would still check the guidelines in the manual.

We used our stroller at 3 weeks of age fully reclined for walks around the neighborhood. We started using a SBS at about 5.5 months too.

They can start whenever, but for your own convenience, you may want to wait until they hit the limits for the infant carrier (we did this)

Our snug rides were ok up to 22 pounds and 29inches. We had them out just before that into Britax roundabouts.

We started using our Maclaren Twin Traveller (SBS) when the girls were 5 weeks old. It was sort of hilarious because the straps were way loose and the babies just slumped down in the seats (even when fully reclined, it wasn't totally flat). But they didn't seem that uncomfy (they usually fell asleep), and they couldn't fall out because of the "boots" (like a sleeping bag that snaps on and covers their legs). It was a lot easier to push on sidewalks than the SNG.
