Our twins are 16 months old and the only thing in there cribs at night are there little taggie blankets (they are small)
They each have a blanket with the slikey edges that they do sleep with during there two naps during the day. i dont mind them
having them at nap times because i am looking in on them alot. but if they have them over night thats a long strech of time.
so when did you let them have there blankets over night?
    Thanks :)

Mine have had blankets since they were about 12 months old. They even sleep with pillows now. I think you are okay to have them with blankets in their beds at this point.

I'm sure it's fine because they can move all around now. My girls wake up so ticked if they have blankets on. I think I might have them in sleepsacks until they are 10.

I'm so glad you posted this question, I was wondering the same thing! My boys sleep in footie PJ's and the only thing in their cribs is their lovey (a stuffed puppy). But they move so much during the night, I often wonder what the point of a blanket would be.

Do you tuck it in or just lay it over them?

My girls have had a blanket in their crib since they were around 14 months old. They don't really keep it on them, but I know they are fine having it all night.

My son had a blanket since he was a little over one (since that's when it was getting cold, he was born in Aug). We have a knited blanket on him, it's not tucked in. I just lay it on top of him and he usually keeps it on for the most part. I think my girls I gave them one before they turned one, the same type of blanket since my grandmother made them. They also had pillows by 1 also (just a small one).

Mine still use those thin hospital blankets (don't tell the hospital! LOL) When I walk in to check on them, they are always in a ball in the corner of the crib...So, they do not keep them on anyway.

Mine have two small books and two small stuffed animals in their crib. It really helps in the morning to have the books in there...

Mine have had blankets in their cribs since about 14 months. They love them! They are big old fleece blankets.

I put a small pillow and a blanket and a stuffed animal in their cribs when they turned 1. I have caught them sleeping on the pillow before and sometimes I have seen them hugging their blankets when they are sleeping (we have video monitors).

    *****One word of caution!!!!:

Remove any ribbons from the stuffed animals - like the ones around the necks of the stuffed animals. My one DD got one of her fingers twisted around and around the ribbon of her stuffed animal and by the time I realized it her finger was blue!!!!! It ended up being okay, but it scares me to death to think what would have happened if I had left her in their one second longer. So, since then, I cut off all the ribbons around the necks of their stuffed animals....********

Mine have had blankets since they were newborns. We used sleepsacks for a while, but my grandmother crocheted these beautiful blankets and as soon as they moved around in the crib I started using those because they have lots of holes in so no worries of suffocation. They still use them and can't go to bed without them!

They also have (each) a lullaby piglet (DS has eeyore), a lamb, a kitten or puppy, a glow teddy bear etc. They love their stuffed animals and insist on having them for bed even at almost 16 months old! I don't remember having a lovey as a child, but I have a feeling my DD is going to take piglet with her everywhere!

I don't remember when we started putting blanket in there, but I do know that I started with crocheted ones. I figured that the holes are so big it would be next to impossible to suffocate with them and they helped keep them at least a little warmer.

we have had blankets in there for a few months (kids are 13 months) - they usually kick them off, or becca will hug it or sleep on it. They move around so much I don't personally worry.

i wish they would attach to a stuffed animal. becca needs a blanket, but so far nothing specific. Jake needs a water bottle.

Our girls have had blankets since the day they were born. When they were newborns, we swaddled them in a fleece blanket. For a while, they slept in the sleepsacks because they wouldn't keep the blanket on and would cry when they got cold. However, since they were probably a year old, they have been sleeping with fairly large blankets and don't have any issues. Now, they have toddler pillows and they usually end up with 2 or 3 blankets in their crib every night.

All of ours have had a blanket since birth. At first they were swaddled in them--a heavier, cotton, larger swaddling blanket. The twins still us them now, but DD1 "graduated" into a heavier, bigger blanket (quilt-like) that covered her around 2. She's about ready to move on to something bigger because she is so tall and I can barely tuck her in length-wise anymore. After I quit swaddling I would just "tuck" them in with the blanket. At almost 2, DD2 likes to lightly tucked and DS likes to be firmly tucked in, feet and all. None of them keep them on at night, they end up just holding them. Its OK because they are dressed warm enough where it doesn't matter. Maybe in the next 6 months the twins will graduate to bigger, heavier blankets.
