when can i do the pregnancy test

So, i may or may not be pregnant. can you do the take home test BEFORE the next period is due? or do i have to wait the full cycle?

Lately I had become almost an expert at taking pregnancy tests! Some tests say you cant ake them upto 5 days before your missed period. I took one and it said negative, 3 days later I got such a faint positive I didnt even count it as anything. I took one every day and just kept getting that really faint line that you almost have to hold upto the light to see. Finally the day my period was due I definatly got the BFP I was wanting. I think everyone is differant. I took a test 5 days before my period, and it was positive. Yet my sister has never had a positive test. She has to go to doctor and have a blood test to find out. It was that way for all 5 of her pregnancies.

 

I took mine almost a week before my period and it came back positive, and I was prego. I have to agree, that everyone is different.

IF i'm pg, then I can usually get a positive 3 days before my period is due...it all depends on the test...you have to get one that's more sensitive. If you google early pg test you should be able to come up with a chart that lists the amount of hcg each popular test out there can measure... I think most of them start around 50...sorry can't remember the units... but you can get some on-line that I think start as low as 20.

I think everyone is different though. I actually had a blood test done this time around b/c of a possible m/c at 5 weeks..and by 5 weeks my hcg level was 21,000....normal is around 5,000 or even less. (And it wasn't even twins this time...) so clearly however my system works it definitely pumps up the hcg quickly.

 

I, personally, like to go to the dollar store and buy a ton of tests. That way I can curb my obsessive-ness I feel when TTC. I try everyday starting about a week before I am due for my period. I test until my period comes..... or until the test comes back positive!

 

There are some tests out there that say you can test five days before AF is due. I think that the digital tests are more accurate but you do have to check how sensitive the tests are. There is a website called www.peeonastick.com that lists all of the tests and how accurate they are. I found it helpful when I was TTC especially when I kept thinking that I was seeing lines when I wasn't <_< .

With both of my pregnancies, even with the twins, I NEVER got a positive pregnancy test until I was 2 days late. Both times I pretty much "knew" I was pregnant, but never got a BFP until 2 days late...they were faint even at that point. I was 3-4 days late before I got a darker line. Both times I tested with FRER (First Response Early Response).
