When and how did you start the transition to milk? My guys are barley drinking any of their formula anymore, so I think it is time to start with the milk. How did you do it? And how many oz should they be getting per day? They are literally drinking 1-2 oz per bottle minus the last bottle of the day where they will drink 5-7 oz.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

We did at 9 months per our peds recommendation. I replaced some of the formula with milk and gradually increased it until they were on all milk within a few days. Have you tried sippies? Mine were not drinking well out of their bottles even after we switched to the milk and I think it was that they just couldn't stay still long enough for a whole bottle! We are off bottles now, I leave their sippies on the floor, and they drink out of them throughout the day. Good luck!

We waited until 12 months per my pedi. I did start giving them cold formula in sippies with each meal at 10 months. Then 3 bottles of warm formula a day. At 12 months we switched the sippies to cold milk, then started dropping bottles. Bottles were gone by 12.5 months, and I never put milk in a bottle, only in a sippy. So when the bottle was gone so was the formula.

Thanks for you responses. They are not great on sippies, so maybe I will work on that. So once the transition is done, how much milk per day should they be getting?

We started with whole milk when they were about 9-10 months. We would replace a bottle of formula with a sippy of milk (we never put anything besides formula in a bottle). By 13 months, they were off the bottle and the formula.

My ped said 16oz of fluid was the minimum at this age.

We very gradually got our girls on the milk. They were drinking 6 oz of milk at each feeding. We started off with an oz of milk and 5oz formula. Then 2 oz milk, 6 oz formula and so on. We did the increase/decrease every 3 days (how long all of our pre-made bottles lasted). Our ped told us 16-24 oz. Currently we are giving them 1 8oz bottle in the am and 1 8oz bottle in the evening. The also have milk in other ways almost daily. Today they had cheerios with banana in milk. I let the cereal soak in the milk for about 5 min so it's more mooshy. They also get yogurt or cheese almost everyday.

We started the milk transition just 2 weeks shy of their first birthday. They were on whole milk only by their 1st birthday.

HTH and GL! HERE'S TO SAVING MONEY WITH NO MORE FORMULA!!!!!!!! :drinks:

Oh btw, we did the transition this way to get their bodies used to the milk slowly. We never had any constipation problems which can happen to many babies if you make the switch cold turkey.
