when an ultrasound tech says "he" or "she" but you don't want to know sex...

we had an ultrasound at 19 weeks when the ultrasound tech said "his little fingers". then, the other day, at 30 weeks, we had a different ultrasound tech say "her sweet face".
our twins are identical- they share a placenta. so there's no way that one is a girl, and one is a boy. they have to be the same sex.
so what is the deal? do you think different ultrasound techs use different gender words, or do you think one of them slipped up and told us the sex? the bad thing is, we don't know which one slipped up...
i was wondering if "he" was the generic term for all babies, and maybe the 2nd ultrasound tech slipped up with using the word "her". what do y'all think?

Our techs have been very good at saying 'the baby' and not he/she. That said, we wanted to find out. Seems to me that you still don't know. That works. Perhaps they just automatically say a certain gender to everyone. I think I tend to use 'he' more than she.

I think that the techs probably just get used to referring to the babies as a certain gender since they are doing so many a day ~ maybe at your next appointment the minute you walk in the door to the ultrasound room tell the tech that you guys DO NOT want to know the sex & hopefully they will change their wording around :)

Honestly, it's probably the tech "humanizing" your babies. I mean, I wouldn't want to sit and listen to a tech talk about "it's" fingers and "it's" bones. I mean, you are talking about people, no matter how small and undeveloped! :) I would just make sure to say "we don't want to know" BEFORE the machine touches the skin so that the tech knows and then take all pronouns from that point on as simply them talking about real people, and thus, giving them gender.

I think you are very brave for choosing not to find out.... I would go into PTL from not knowing myself! :)

I didn't find out with my son and the tech always told me that she just refers to all babies as he when you don't want to know.

As long as you told them you don't want to know the sex, I'll bet they're just using their personal gender words.
