When an outfit says 6m does that mean that it is 3-6 or 6-9? I tried to look for the weight description on the tag, but found none.
    Thanks!

I think I've found it usually means 3-6 mo. Almost missed out on a couple of cute outfits, b/c they got put in the closet and I saw the '6' and thought we had time, but they just barely fit into them!

If its Carters its 3-6mos (up to 16.5lbs and 26" I believe).

My boys were skinny little things when they were younger and wore 0-3 month clothes up until almost 6 months old! Now they mostly wear 12 month clothes, but can still fit into 6 month onesies. So I think it really depends on the babies weight and body structure and what type of clothing it is.

I feel like they're small. My 4 month olds have been in 6 mo clothes for a little while now. And Lyla is only in the 50 percentile and Sophie's in teh 10th percentile.

I think the sizing on baby clothes is a hit and miss. They're not really uniform in size. I've just started looking them over really close and buying what seems to be the right size. The boys are 7 1/2 months old and almost everything that fits anywhere close is 12 month size and when we went to the pumpkin patch this weekend their overalls were 18 month size and none too big. The boys are not huge. They were born at 32 weeks and they have just made it to the 50th percentile in size. It's really messed us up on buying ahead on sale items. I figured 18 month sizes for swim suits for next year and now they are wearing some 18 mo things already. I'm sure their shapes will change from baby buddas to little boys by next summer, so I'm hanging on to them for the time being. but I'm buying nothing less than an 18 month size for the winter and they won't be one until the end of February. I say look at it and compare your twins bodies and if you think it will fit - try it.

It totally varies. My girls are 10.5 month and are still in 3-6 months or 3 month clothes. Some 6 month or 6-9 fits them, but usually they are too big... We actually still fit into some NB size onsies...

Baby clothes are pretty hit and miss fit-wise, but 6 months could mean 3-6 or 0-6.

clothing sizes are the bane of my existence....they both still fit into some 3-6 month clothes...and then some stuff that is 12 months fits Becca (not Jake). I'm forever buying and returning clothes because I think we have missed a window.

It also depends on brand...like anything, some stuff is small and other stuff is big.

My son is like Stacy's kids. At 9 months he could still wear some 6-9 month stuff. At 12 months he was wearing a few 6-9 month things. Now at 13 months, he pretty much just wears 12 month stuff. He is as of his 12 month WBV 19lbs 3oz and 30 1/4" tall.

I think it depends on the brand as well. I've found that anything made with Disney logos etc. run small. My girls wear some 6-9 mo. stuff - but mostly are in 12 mo. stuff now. They are not huge - Carley is probably 19lbs - Natalie 18.5. Any clothing I got that was made with Disney logo was small!! They were so cute and they say 6 mos. and I luckily tried to put the girls in them early and they fit and were only able to wear the outfits twice. I also think "regular" day clothes will differ from pj's and onesies. My girls are in 12 mo. "cheapy" pj's - but if I buy the expensive good stuff - sizing is closer on. hope this helps!!

I've been told that if it says 6mo on it, it means "up to 6 months". I throw it in with my 3-6 month stuff and find it fits the same. Of course, all babies are different.

I have found this to be so variable that it almost doesn't matter what's on the tag. I use it as a rough guide. But my kids wore stuff marked 6m from about 3 months to almost 2 years! In general, I guess they wore it from 6-12 months, but my kids are on the short side.

I believe 6m means 3-6 months especially in Carter's brand (you never see clothes that say '0' for 0-3 so 3m means 0-3). If I remember correctly 3-6 is usually about 12-18 pounds. Of course, babies may fit in a size different from their actual age depending on if they are smaller or bigger for their age group. I've also found that more expensive brand clothing - like Gymboree - runs a little bigger than cheaper brands.

Thanks for the advice ladies! Just trying to pack -up clothes. The clothes in question are from carters, so I think I will put them in a 3-6 box.
    Thanks again!

My vote is for 3-6 months... my girls are in 6-9 right now and also fit into 9month clothes

i've noticed it usually means 3-6 mos, but i'll hold it up to other clothing just to see how the size compares. It's so confusing, isn't it?!?!?!!!
