I thought it would be good to find out what brands of things people prefer and why for new moms who might be shopping for stuff. Every week I will post a different category of things and people can discuss their favourites!

This week: bottle brands. Tell us what you use and why you like them.

We bought a ton of Avent, Dr Brown's, and Evenflo before the girls were born. They didn't end up liking ANY of them. We have been using the 3/$1 ones from K-Mart with the brown "disposable" nipples that my girlfriend buys me from the hospital supply. I wish I'd been able to save that money!

We used Medela because I was more or less married to my Pump in Style for a few months and it was so much more convenient to just use the medela bottles. Plus I found them easy to clean vs. the born free ones with their eleventy billion parts. The boys had no trouble with them at all. We used the slow flow nipples at first, and then at about 8-9 months when they could hold their own bottles switched to the faster flow.

We tried every brand out there also, other than the Dr. Brown one - it seemed like too much trouble to me. They weren't crazy about Medela, Avent or Nuk. They were OK with the cheap ones Gerber and Evenflo - but as they grew we realized they had less gas and they were happier when we fed them with Playtex, so we stuck with those.

We used Avent mostly when A&R were teeny. Alice had incredible reflux and the variable nipple was awesome at allowing the thicker formula through and not many parts to clean, plus we bought the Avent sippy cups and could use the bottles and cups interchangably.

I feel like I tried every bottle when M&A were little. I ended up with the 'old school' Gerber ones with the tiny nipples that come in a 3-pack at Target. I used the playtex drop in for awhile for Meara, but the nipples were too big for Ana's tiny mouth. The gerber ones worked perfect for her. Once we got the reflux under control for both, I gave away the drop ins and used the gerber bottles for both girls.

it was funny, we used avent when my oldest was a baby and LOVED it. When the twins were born we had been given a bunch of dr browns and avent from 2 friends and hated them with the twins. A good friend suggested switching to dropins and we did and never looked back. Worked the best for us. I cringe a little when I think of how much money i have spent on the liners and how much waste we have put back into the world but you do what works.

We too tried so many brands and found that what worked with our son(Dr. Browns) didn't work with the twins. We ended up trying the MAM's for colic after a friend had recommened them and we haven't tried anything else. They do have a lot of parts but it is so worth it when it actually helps with the colic and you can sanatize them in the microwave. :)

Dr. Brown's for us. We tried playtex and playtex drop-ins, Avent, and I think it was Nuby. The extra parts were annoying but we ran the dishwasher every day. They just really took to those bottles.

The cheap, old school glass Evenflo ones were the only ones my girls would use. I had a whole bunch of Momo bottles that I had used with DS but they nipples were too flimsy and the girls just couldn't seem to feed from them. I also tried a couple of others (can't remember now which ones in the blur of trying to get them to eat from something) and they finally took to the Evenflo...worked for me since they are super cheap and I didn't feel bad if one chipped or broke :)

I breastfeed and supplement and the only bottles that work for me are the breastflow bottles. If I use anything else, the flow is too fast and the girls start getting fussy at the breast. But they have no problems transitioning back and forth between breast and breastflow bottle. The only downside being it takes awhile to feed even 2 oz. with the breastflow bottles.

REALLY wanted to like and use Playtex drop ins. Bought a million and the realized (too late) that the slow flow was WAYYYYYYY too slow and fast was too fast! Had to buy Dr. Browns and really liked them! I didnt' mind the parts.

we went with the drop ins (Playtex) - they were super convenient (at the time I didn't have a dishwasher) so I could go 2 feedings without washing the holders (as long as they didn't get spilled on)...when my daughter was a newborn we wound up having to use Avent for her because the nipples were stiffer - she had terrible tongue thrust reflex and would push the other bottles out of her mouth!

We like Born Free. One of my boys has reflux and we could see a difference when he fed from the Born Free instead of one of the other bottles so we've stuck with them.

We are using the Dr. Brown ones and the girls LOVE them. We are doing the wide neck ones, which make it a bit easier for ours to grab onto. The extra parts are a bit annoying, but after you get used to it, it becomes routine.

We initially tried Playtex Drop-Ins (which seemed to leave a ton of air in the drop-ins for our boys to ingest and cause all kinds of crying), then invested a bunch of money in Dr. Browns bottles. And we even bought a few Avents in between (but they seemed too leaky). We used Dr. Browns for at least two months, but our boys still seemed to have horrible gas pains and were sometimes unable to burp with those. So I ended up trying Playtex Ventaires after that and they were the answer! Our boys would still get some stubborn burps that wouldn't come up (but that happened w/ Dr. Browns too) but the Playtex Ventaires seemed to work as good as Dr. Browns, yet were MUCH easier to clean. I used #2 Dr. Brown nipples with our Ventaires until we weaned our boys off bottles around 15 months. And I looooved our Ventaire bottles!
