On top of all the pressure that I feel from the weight of these 2 monsters, I have a sharp, shooting pain in my nether region. I was wondering if this is an idication of dilating, or is cause for another concern. Anyone else experiencing this great feeling, along with me :aggressive: ??

I had that with either my 1st or 2nd?? I swear it felt like someone was jabbing me with an ice pick down there. For the life of me I can't remember what my ob said. I don't think it was anything he worried about though?

I am right about where you are as far as dates. I totally know the feeling and I am pretty sure its just something or someone pushing on your nether regions. I had it with my first too and I am sure it was her hand punching me down there.

I had this with both of my pregnancies but it started much earlier for me. I felt like someone was continuously stabbing me in the crotch. I was Also unable to lay on my side which really sucked. I went to physio, chiropractor and massage once a week to help releive the pain. I was told it was ligaments stretching as well as my pelvis was twisted and one side was higher than the other. Best of luck, I hope you find a way to get some releif.

I have had that pain for the last few weeks and in my case I am not dilating. I figure everything including downn there is getting ready for the delivery of the babies. Unfortunetly every pregnancy is different and in your case you could be dilating. If you are that worried then phone your doctor or go into L&D!

Sounds like what I had. My money would be on SPD - Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. Pretty common, especially with multiples. Isn't everything? Mine came on around 25w and was stabbing or achey, depending on the occasion. Nothing really to do about it, just try to avoid whatever hurts. Fortunately, it's relatively benign. I carried my two through to 39 weeks.

    Here's a blurb about it:

What exactly is Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction?
During pregnancy or birth, about one in 35 women will experience intense pelvic pain and may find it difficult to walk, climb stairs, and other movements that involve the pelvic bones. This pain is a result of separation of the symphysis pubis which is a joint in the very front part of the pelvic bone structure. There is cartilage that fills the gap in the bones. During pregnancy, hormones such as relaxin soften this cartilage allowing the pelvic bones to be more flexible for delivery. Some women, however, have too much play in the pelvis causing a large gap between the bones. This makes the symphysis pubis area extremely sensitive to touch.

When does separation of the symphysis pubis occur?
Some women will notice pain beginning as early as the first trimester of pregnancy while others experience this separation during the birth or even a few days postpartum. Women who have experienced SPD with previous pregnancies will not necessarily have the problem with subsequent pregnancies however, some will.

How will I know if I have SPD?
If you have SPD, you may notice pain in the front of the pelvis that hurts when touched. You may also feel pain in the lower abdomen, hips, inner thigh and groin areas. Marked increased pain with activities such as walking, climbing stairs, lifting your legs, or any other large movements involving the pelvis are key symptoms. You may even experience a clicking type noise with movement as well. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should contact your caregiver for further testing.

I had the SPD with my first pregnancy (singleton) and I have had it with this one much earlier, the entire time. It is rather painful!!!
