What's the longest your DC has gone w/ a fever?

Bryan's had a fever since yesterday morning- it's been averaging about 101-102 with tylenol. The highest it has spiked is 104- but got down to 102.5 w/ meds. I've talked to the nurse, and she said if it hasn't gone away by tomorrow morning (48 hrs) to have him evaluated. But to *hopefully* ease my mind a bit, I'm just wondering how common this is. So far the boys have never had fevers that have lasted more than a day! So what are your BTDT stories?

My boys have had fevers for up to 72 hours. My pedi's policy is a fever of 100.3 or more (with no other symptoms like possible ear infection or sore throat) for 72 hours before I bring them in. Normally a fever caused by a virus runs it's course in about 72 hours. It has never failed to be the case for us. We have gone in a little before 72 hours if it is a Sat and we don't want to go into Sunday with the fever continuing and no drs. hours but the fevers were gone around the 72 hour mark.

    Hope he is better soon!

My kids have gone 5 days with fever. It was a virus. I usually wait 72 hours to go to the DR if the fever is alone with no other symptoms like ear pain or sore throat.
I hate to drag my kids to the dr and be told It is a Virus..nothing we can do.

Just a few weeks ago both of mine had fevers on and off for a week! I never thought it would end. It would come down with Motrin, sometimes stay away for 12 hours or so, then come back. My pedi always says if it lasts more than 3 days to bring them in.

The longest we've had a fever was 10 days. Nothing serious, just a virus. I evaluate their behavior to determine if I should hit the ped or not. If they aren't super cranky, pulling at their ears, etc I try to wait it out. It's so great now that three of the five can articulate what hurts!

Ok thanks! Even though the nurse said 48 hours, I think we'll watch it till 72- he just seems to be feeling pretty well, and while his fever is still there, it has gone down. I just pray it's done w/ in the morning! This whole new mom dealing w/ sick kids deal is pretty scary! (Meredith- yeah, I'm looking forward to that whole articulation thing!)

We just had a fever with Amanda for a week. She ranged from a high of 105.4 and a low of about 101 for a week. We did take her to the doctors 2x and we were told (other than the antibiotics for an ear infection) to use the Tylenol and Motrin as prescribed on the label and she would be fine. The fever broke last week and she has been fine since!

Good luck! I know what it is like to deal with fevers!

Ella had a fever off and on for a week while she was getting her top molars. It was over 101 most of the time.

We took her to the dr. and nothing was wrong so we chalked it up to teething.

We're going through that right now. Sofia has had a fever since Saturday, no other symptoms. She is fine when the medication is in effect. I'm going to give it till tomorrow before I call in.
