Hello! Well there seems to be a lot of crazy things happening around here lately. Just when I think we get things semi- undercontrol, then all *@!& breaks loose. I have twin girls that will be 4 months on the 17th of this month. We go in on Friday for our shots, but will probably be in sooner. Here's what's happening. . .
    1. One DD doesn't seem at all interested in her bottle. She cries and fusses when you go to put the nipple in. She is probably getting 8 or so ounces less than needed. We have spoken with both our ped and the gastro doctor and they don't know if it is bowel related (she has had harder stools), acid reflux acting up, or milk protein allergy. They have said to give her juice which she won't take now, increase her Pepcid dosage, and we have even given her suppositories and a enema!! What is going on? She seems to be very uncomfortable during a feeding and pushes the nipple out, or she falls asleep with the nipple in her mouth.
    2. Both DD's seem to be sleeping much more lately. Instead of their usual nap from 11:30 - 1:30 they also sleep from 3:00 - 4:30 or so. And some cat naps here and there. Is this normal??
    3. We have such a hard time waking them up to play because they sleep so much, do we wake them or let them sleep?? How do we wake them nothing seems to work?

I though things were supposed to get easier by now, but nope, it might even be a little harder!

    Please help,
    Jen

I can't help with the feeding issues! Sorry!!

But as for the sleeping, my girls are 4 1/2 months and sleep ALOT!
They sleep 9:00pm to 5:00 am. Wake to eat then back to bed until 8:00 am. Sleep from 9:45 to 11:00 am. From 12:30 to 2:00, from 3:00 to 4:00 and then again a little cat nap from 6:30 to 7:00 pm!

They are happy this way and the ped is happy too. It doesn't sound like they are sleeping too much to me!

Hang in there an di hope you get your answers!

As far as feedings are concerned, this happened to both my girls at separate times. One of them had to have their reflux meds increased and my other dd had a decreased appetite due to an ear infection. I was going to say call the pedi again, but then noticed you are going in Tuesday. Hopefully they can figure things out then.

As far as sleeping goes, I know mine go in and out of sleepy phases. They get so structured in their nap/sleeping schedules, then everything seems to change! At 4.5-5 months my girls were sleeping 10.5-12 at night and 2+ during the day. Personally, I wouldn't wake them during the day unless it's messing up bedtime and nighttime sleep.

I got the best piece of wisdom from a twin mom before my girls were born. She said every stage brings it's own set of challenges. Although it's hard to keep that in the back of your mind, it's so true. This age DOES get easier because some start sleeping through the night, colic should be gone, reflux should be under control....BUT it also gets hard on a different level because things are changing. They are learning more and developing more. For me, once we hit 5 months it was better and from 6 on it of course was challenging in other ways (and the stress is still there) but it gets tons more FUN!!

:hug99: I don't have any advice, I just wanted to say that my girls slept a lot at that age also. I felt like they were sleeping more than they were awake, but they were happy and healthy so I just enjoyed the quiet and spent time with my DS.

4 months did seem harder for me than any other stage so far.

They may be having a growth sprut which may account for the sleeping, mine seemed to sleep more then. As far as the eating have you tried different nipples and bottles. Does she breast feed or bottle only??
