Our girls are 8 mos. old, and they go to bed around 6:30. They stay in their cribs until around 5:00 or so. Lately they wake up twice to eat during the night, and take about 5 oz. each feeding. That is more than they drink during the day. (WTH?) I am lucky if I can get 3 oz. into them during daytime bottles. My question is, how do I fix this? They clearly must be hungry at night, right? Thanks, Lisa
It sounds like they must be hungry at night. How many times are they eating a day? Have they started finger foods of any sort yet? Have they always been waking up during the night (i.e. did it stop for a while and start back up again, or has this been constant) for a bottle? I was also thinking that if this just started up again, they might be going through a growth spurt. I'm sorry that I have more questions then answers!
Are they really distracted while eating during the day? Is that why they only take 3oz then? It sounds like they prefer eating at night - and that is when they "stock up" to last them during the day! I wish I had wonderful advice for you.... The only thing I can think of is trying to add a bit more to each bottle during the day and maybe feed them in a darkened, quiet room and if they start taking more during the day you could slowly make the middle of the night bottles smaller. Or maybe feed them more frequently during the day? If they are getting bottles every 4 hours, maybe try every 3 hours? That way you could maybe get at least 1 more bottle in before bedtime and then feel confident that they'd only need to get up 1x to eat? Good luck. I hope you can figure out something to get them to sleep better at night!
I wonder if they are having a growth spurt. In this case, the best thing to do is feed them and they will begin waking less - or you can wean them off of this feeding when you know the growth spurt would have had to have run its course. We went through this with ours at 10.5 months old. GL.
Lisa my girls do the same thing its every nite at 4am and when they are sick its every 2 hours  I do give them a bottle and they happily drink 6-7 oz each time then are happy enough to sleep til 7-8am and wake up to eat thier big breakfeast fruit/cereal. I have tried to ignore the crying but they are relentless  its just easier to wake up feed them and go back to sleep.
Mine just started waking twice at night too! It's frustrating at times then I wonder how I made it through the first 2 months waking 3-8 times a night! Maybe adding more solids to their diet will help ^_^ GL!!
Yes, I agree that they are clearly hungry. Can you try feeding them during the day with less distractions? Maybe give bottles in the nursery or something to that effect. Hang in there. Mine didnt STTN until they were 9 months old and it is frustrating to say the least <_<
I'd progressively decrease how much you give them at every feeding at night... then they'd be more likely to eat more during the day i think.
Mine have been waking for the past month or so after STTN so well. It is frustrating. Sofia wakes because she is hungry. Maya mostly wakes and wants to come to bed w/ me. Sometimes she is hungry. I'm also not sure what to do. Oh, Sofia eats great during the day too. She was getting distracted though so I always turn off the tv and everything before we eat. Good luck!
Whoa...6:30 p.m.!!!! Am I doing something totally wrong? My twins don't go to bed until 8-8:30. 6:30 seems soooo early. Is this what I should be doing, too?

Is this what I should be doing, too? Mine go to sleep around 8:30 - 9:00 pm. If there's something wrong with that, I didn't get the memo, lol. I think it just depends on the households schedule I think. Some kids go to daycare, etc.. I've noticed though that when the girls go down at 8:30pm they typically wake for the day around 8:00 am. So if they slept at 6:30pm then maybe they'll wake for the day at 6:00am?
I think bedtime doesn't really matter as long as they sleep 11 hours at night, or 14-16 hours total. So if they don't sleep as long at night, they can catch up with naps.
6:30 p.m. is VERY early! We didn't put them on that schedule, they did a few months ago. In a way it is nice b/c I get one on one time with the older girls in the evening, especially my 2 yo. When we have activities in the evening though it is awful. Even holiday gatherings are proving to be tricky... I think 7:45 would work into my life much better!
How many bottles do they get in the day? If it's only 4 than I would say that 12 ounces isn't nearly enough during the day. Are they eating their bottle before or after solids? Maybe they are filling up on the solids to much??

Are they eating their bottle before or after solids? Maybe they are filling up on the solids to much?? They have always been offered a bottle every 3 hours, but have never been huge eaters. They usually eat between 3 and 5 oz., but lately only eat 5 at night. I guess during the day they get about 15 oz., sometimes a bit more. I do try to space it as far from solids as I can.
