My dh is in San Francisco till Monday with my oldest daughter. My in-laws have my other little girl with them at their lakehouse. I have the boys at my house. I was actually up at their house till yesterday with the boys. They were helping me. They are going to the lakehouse for the weekend. So here are my options::

    1. Go to the lakehouse. It's a two-hour drive. The negatives there will be two other people there (not family) both with dogs. My dog and my inlaw's dog are great with kids especially with the babies. Both dogs are very protective. I don't know anything about these other dogs. I don't have a pack-n-play so the babies will have to sleep with me (I am okay with that) but I have no where to put them during the day.
The pluses - THE HELP! and I will have my own room with bath and the downstairs has another kitchen that I could use.

    2. Just stay home and do it by myself. The positives and negatives are obvious ... I am at home so I have everything I need. The negative I have NO HELP.

All my friends are out of town right now. I don't really know how that happened. So I would really be on my own.

I would go. It sounds like a lot of fun and you will have lots of help. Maybe your babies are small enough that the other dogs will leave them alone. good luck and have a great weekend.

I would go and have fun. I see that your boys are still little. Are you still using the infant car seats? If so you can have them nap in them or the stroller?

I would be nervous about the other dogs you don't know. Can you get a Pack n Play? But really, it's not too bad w/out help :) I have no help either! But it would be nice to have the adult company.

me personally, since I am around people all day at work I'd stay home and enjoy the quiet surroundings and spend time with the babies. I would do that Friday, then maybe drive to the lakehouse Sat. afternoon or so for the rest of the weekend.

i would stay home for 2 reasons. one being that you don't know the dogs and don't have a place to keep them and 2 being i would have everything i need at home and it would be easier.

it also may be good to get out of the house and have the extra help.

i second pp on getting a pack n play so at least you can relax when they are napping and have a little of you time. if you get the pack n play i would say go.

I would go! If all else fails for the bed just let them sleep in their carseats. I did that for the first few days until we were back in our house.

    Good luck!

I would probably stay home and do it myself. Your already -2 kids.. But if you do go.. You can buy a cheap P&P for like 40$ at target. and maybe that can stay are your parents or your inlaws for when ever you go for a visit? I would be nervous abotu the dogs also. I still dont let my kids around my parents dogs.. (2 HUGE 100lb dogs..)

I would stay home amd love it! When mine were tiny, I loved it when DH or Grandma would take my oldest out for awhile. I really enjoyed having some time to just focus on the babies, not have to make dinner...etc. Going to the lakehouse actually sounds pretty stressful to me

if you can't get a pnp i would stay home, too, since they are at an age where they sleep a lot, and i would say you need to have a place to "put" them, and to keep them away from the unknown dogs.

do you have bouncy seats or swings for naps - then you don't have to run out and buy a PnP - I'd go but then again when mine were tiny I'd meet my mom at the mall or somewhere between her house and mine (we live 25 mi apart) and spend the afternoon so I had help (the kids napped in the carseats) and adult interaction...also too I found that getting out of the house made me less weepy

Do you have a bouncy seat or travel swing? PNPs can be pretty inexpensive at Target or Walmart for a basic one. I'd probably go because it sounds like fun and a 2 hour car ride for 2 month olds isn't bad because they sleep. GL with whatever you decide.
