Hi. My twins are 3 months now. Up until a few days ago they were drinking between 26 - 30 oz. of formula a day. Now one of them is still doing that and my second is down to 21-23 oz. Should I be concerned? The pedi is not in until tomorrow. She is pooping and peeing fine. No fever. Also, is it possible they are teething already? Thanks for your time.
Babies are funny because they will occasionally go through periods of time where their appetite decreases, usually just before a growth spurt. As long as she's still having wet/poopy diapers then I would try not to worry, it's very common.
I don't think it's possible they're teething that early (six months is more typical...) but like the PP said, growth spurts and the opposite happen, so unless she seems sick or lethargic I wouldn't worry!
Sara, We always seem to be going through the same thing at the same time. One of my girls is eating up a storm, but the other only takes in 2 or 3 ounces at a time and decides she's done. She seems to be feeling fine and is having enough wet/poopie diapers so I'm trying not to be too concerned. About the teething, it absolutely is possible. Some babies are born with teeth, in fact. I think one of mine has already had a bit of teething pain but it went away in a couple days.
I just wanted to say it's VERY possible they're teething, all 3 of my children broke their bottom 2 teeth through @ 3 months old. Not saying it's that, but wanted people to know 3 months is definitely not too young for teething.
I wouldn't be concerned unless you see that the diapes are not wet. All babies are different and go through spurts at different times. teething is possible but prob not likely. my ds had 2 teeth before he was 4 months old but that is not common.
21-23 is still fine! It could definitely be teething. Those little teeth often start bothering them well before they pop through. :hug99:
Your baby could be teething, but most likely it is just one of those cycles that babies go through. Mine are going through a decreasing appetite stage right now, but next week they may eat me out of house and home. I just cycles around every so often.
