Good morning, I'm just wondering what you would do in this situation. When I was admitted to the hospital for contractions, I asked if they would be checking me for UTI. I've heard it is possible to not have symptoms and still have one. I have been peeing a lot, but I'm drinking extremely high quantities of water. Anyway, they said they would check and they had me collect the sample. It was still sitting in the bathroom several hours later. When I asked about it, I was told that it was so clear that I couldn't possibly have an infection. Well, I'm sure it was that clear because of all the water I drink. It wasn't like it looked exactly like water. I'm back home now (3 hours from that hospital) and I'm wondering if I should call my family doctor (the clinic is open this morning even if he isn't on call) and just have them check for UTI for peace of mind. Am I being overly cautious? If my urine was that clear is it silly to even be thinking about this?

Beth, I am sorry they didn't feel the need to send that to the lab....it couldn't possibly hurt to go and have it ran at your local PCP office. I would. Good luck and keep us posted Missy
I would get it checked out. The only time in my life I have ever had UTIs is in pregnancy. This time, I am on Macrobid suppression (one a day) as a preventative measure and I have still had UTIs. The last time I tested pos for one, was when I started contracting A LOT a couple weeks ago and knew something wasn't right. I started the Keflex and the contractions went way down immediately.
I did call my local clinic and they said they had no problem checking even if it was just for my peace of mind. No UTI, but at least now I know.
Like PP, the only time I had a UTI was while I was pregnant. I never had symptoms, my urine was incredibly clear (I was on IV fluids AND drinking 3-4 liters) AND I was on an IV antibiotic every 4 hours. I still had repeated UTI's until I was put on macrobid and kept on macrobid until I delivered. I think you are right to expect them to check it. I would raise your concern to the clinic or your pcp, like PPs suggested.
I was also put on Macrobid at 28 weeks for a UTI. I had really really strong pains in my side and they said that was from the UTI. I would get it checked out because they said that My UTI was causing me to have contractions.
Glad you had it checked out and you do not have one! I had one early in pregnancy and had no symptoms and my OB office called me about it...so it is good that you had it checked out!
