What Would You Do?

My 13 month old twins are going to be big sisters at the end of February. Originally I was looking to buy a used Valco Twin Tri-Mode with the attachable toddler seat thinking the baby and 1 twin would ride in the stroller and the other twin would ride up front in the toddler seat. Now I'm thinking maybe I should instead get a single Valco with the toddler seat and also the jump-board..so the baby would ride in the stroller, one twin up front in the toddler seat and the other twin in the back standing on the jump board.

The girls will be about 17 months when the baby is born so we realistically probably won't really use the stroller until a few months later, especially with Ohio winters, unless we're at the mall or something.

SO my question is... should I go with a single stroller or double? How much will the girls at that age want to ride/stay in the stroller? I forsee my only sanity next summer as going on walks...so ideally I want them to ride in the stroller, but I don't know if I'm being realistic!!

    Thanks for your input!!

I went with a double when I had my 3rd child and my 2nd was 16mths old at his birth. He didn't want to walk WITH us, but constantly took off, so I'd say, if you don't plan to USE the stroller right away, I'd wait until the time comes that you will be using it - and you can judge what your girls will be like at that time.

That all being said, I've never let the cold keep me indoors (we live in Manitoba) and I'd likely go with the double and the toddler seat. Then you ALWAYS have the option of letting one of the girls ride.

Depends on your kids but mine are 2.5 and we're just starting to be a bit more comfortable going out without the stroller... I'd get the double.

My boys are 21mos and I definitely would buy a double especially if there was another baby coming.

When my twins were born, our oldest was 13 months. We orgianlly purchased a Graco double stroller because the infant seats snapped into it.
However, we then bought the Valco Twin Tri Mode because of the attachable toddler seat. I sold my Graco. We've gotten some pretty good use out of the Valco, but I can honestly say looking back I wish I had relaxed a little more and thought more about the purchase before doing it. Here we are now the twins are turning 2 in March, Isabelle will be 3 in Feb. They are all walking, would rather be walking than in the stroller. I probably could have waited until about now to buy the stroller. When the twins were babies, we didn't go anywhere, so really what was the point in having the fancy stroller.

I agree to maybe wait a bit, and see how life is with the new one before making the big purchase. Geez, they sure do know how to make the families with lots of kids pay for it! I must say though that having the Valco with the toddler seat is nice. Isabelle is still young enough yet that she will get tired after walking any great distance. And we can now just rotate all the kids though the seats if any one had a problem with who sits up front.

My son was 18 mths when are twins were born. We just went w/ a double stroller for the twins and he started to walk unless I had someone else w/ me for a big outing then he would go in an umbrella stroller. That being said, I would love a used Valco double w/ the toddler attachment. I struggeled getting the babies in and out of our Maclaren w/o having the ability to just attach their car seat to the stroller. It just would have made life easier. Now I still think about getting the Valco but my son is 3 now and the babies are 1 1/2 ..I could still use it at times.(but don't think it would be worth the $ at this point for me).

I am struggling with this issue right now! I use my double stroller almost every day - I cannot stand being cooped up in the house! For now, we have not bought a triple stroller....I am going to try and put the new baby in a sling at first, and then maybe a frontpack? I have been researching what to do, and we just don't have a ton of money to devote to a triple stroller. My multiples group has a consignment sale twice a year, so I guess I am going to wait until March and see if anyone is trying to sell a triple stroller.

Maybe just keep looking for a good deal, and wait until the new baby comes along to see what would work best for you?
