I spent 2 nights in the hospital to stop my contractions that started on Saturday night. Also got the steroid shots just in case.

I'm 34 1/2 weeks now, and just had my appt. with the OB today. We are originally scheduled for a c-section on the 13th, but she doesn't think I will make it. My cervix is soft and I'm just a hair dilated. But she thinks I may be able to make it to 36 weeks.

So my question... when I go see her next week and am dilated further do you think I should go ahead and move the date to the 6th? I'm just concerned with the way my body is behaving that i'm going to end up with a c-section in the middle of the night... and as dumb as it may sound I just don't want anyone operating on me then. And I don't like suprises. But then again i want to make it as far as I can.

What do I do? My babies are measuring bigger than their gestation and are 5 1/2 pounds each already...they also (like I said) have had the steroid shot. Do you think they would be okay at 36 weeks? Or do you think I just go with the flow? I don't want to give up their health just because I'm so miserable.

Congrats on making it this far!

I would have a heart to heart with your OB & see what he/she recommends. They would never want to put you or the babies in jeopardy so I would have to put my faith/trust in what they think is best.

good luck & keep us posted!!!

Agree with PP. If your doc thinks it is a good idea, go for it.

I def. agree, I'm sure your OB has been around the block a time or 2 and will probably have a pretty good understanding about when the time is right.

    Good luck, you're almost there!!

I agree with Tamara, that you should talk to your Dr. If it were me, I would want those babies to cook as long as possible. Good Luck!

Id want to cook them as long as possible even if that meant a c-section in the middle of the night. Ultrasound weights arent always accurate and can be up to 1 pound off in either direction.
What does your gut say? How are you feeling these days?? My OB told me for WEEKS I woudnt make it past 34 weeks....at 37 I finally talked her into inducing :) You just never know.

I agree with everyone talk to your OB. I know that emergeny c-section isn't appealing to you but I would want to cook those babies as I can. Let us know what you and your decided. Hang in there.

I faced the same question but for different reasons. Go to 37 or pull them out earlier. I ended up deciding to go to 37. 36 is GREAT to get to and the chances of having a major complications has gone down by that point (from what I have learned anyway- i am NOT a dr so don't take what I say to the bank) but 37 is even better. At 37 we were able to take the babies home with us and not have to leave them at the hospital. That was a the selling point for me. I didn't not want to have to leave them behind. Remember, every day they are safely in your belly is one less day they may need to be in the hospital. Tough choices, good luck

I agree. There are stories about people who have them at 37 weeks and they are much smaller than anticipated and end up with NICU time. For me, I would go as long as I could.
