Okay, if you remember, I posted a "what to do," scenario about my husband and son not wanting our girls to go on our cruise. Well, I decided to stick to the plan, since I had talked about the trip with them, paid for them, and planned it with them in mind. Well, now Erin got sick yesterday, and Brooke today. I think it's just a cold with a cough, runny nose, very slight fever, and just all over not feeling good. I can still leave them with my parents, to take really good care of them. Or do I chance it, taking them on a cruise for 7 days, with hopes they don't get worse. Please tell me what you would do if you were in my situation.

    Thank you so much again!!!!

Well if your comfortable leaving them and their grandparents are fine dealing with sick kiddoes then I say leave them. We were actually in this situation once years ago. We were getting to leave on vacation to Disney and leaving them was NOT an option and neither was cancelling. I saw my pediatrician and said look were about to go away and I'm worried about ear infections which happened a lot. My Dr was nice enough to put them on antibiotics for just in case. Now I know a lot of people would not feel comfortable with that but it that situation we felt it was a good choice. Thankfully noone got worse and we had a great time.

The grandparents aren't worried about getting sick too are they? If they are, take them - if they aren't worried about it, leave them.

I know you got a LOT of both sides of the coin with this discussion last time, but I would probably enjoy it more w/o them. I don't mean that in a mean spirited kind of way at all! We've left them overnight many times and have had a great time and you are ALLOWED TO HAVE FUN WITH DH AND SON!

Best wishes with your decision and remember the bottom line is that ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THIS DECISION! We can't do it for you, so no matter how many sides of the coin we show you, you have to do the decision making. (Bummer, huh?)

No, I completly agree with you about having a good time without them, and theres nothing wrong about that. I just would miss them very badly, and don't know if that would ruin the trip for me!

Personally, I'd probably take them. I'd worry if they felt bad and mommy wasn't available.

You do what you are comfortable with!

I can tell ya, the first time I went to Florida, I had a horrible cold/fever with ear infection. If my mom hadn't already paid for the trip, I probably would have been left behind. Within hours of being there, with the salty air and salt water, I felt GREAT! I've never had a cold go away so fast!

Again, It's your decision, go with your gut!

I recently read in National Geographic Traveller that cruise ships don't let people with obvious cold symtoms board!

Call your travel agent or who ever you booked through right away and see if that is the case with the cruise line you've booked with and if so what refund options are available to you.

Personally I would leave them with their grandparents. If it was a trip within the country and you could come home if they were truly miserable then I would consider taking them. But once you're on that shop there is no turning back early. If your parents are 100% ok with watching them while they are sick and the kids are comfortable with them I would leave them.

If this is a vote, then I vote to take them. It's hard to have a family vacation without the entire family there.

on the other hand, dh and I just took a whole day away from the girls to celbrate our anniv. and we were glad to have the quiet time to ourselves. nice to travel without having to sing 47 verses of "Wheels on the bus'.

BTW, so sorry to hear they are sick so close to departure time.
