As most you have probably read by now that my husband and i are remodeling our home. I'm stuck in the bathroom!!!
I know that I will probably get pretty big I'd like to have a comfortable way to shower/bathe. Does anyone have any suggestions to what kind of combination tub/shower to install?? i want something roomy, and maybe with a seat in the corner, also a detachable shower head for the hard cleaning spot that i won't be able to see.

i haven't went window shopping yet but i have the internet at my beck and call. Any ideas??
    thanks and lots of love!

I always used a shower during my pregnancy. I was too afraid that I would loose my balance and fall getting in and out of the tub. Our shower was pretty small, but I managed. A detachable head would have probably been nice as well as some place to sit.

We have a shower with a detachable shower head and a tub of the normal size. I very ofte use the shower, for daily use, and with my singleton pregnancies I loved using the tub - especially at the end of pregnancies, when I was overdue, and my midwive told me that lying in a hot tub might induce labour.

But now - no way! First of all, I hardly fit in that tub - even if there´s so much water in it it almost drops on the floor, my large belly is still looking out of the water like a huge island. [IMG] And it´s freezing cold, being inside the water just not that big part.

Then, normally you lie in a tub on your back - I can´t imagine doing it different. But since about week 25 I can´t lie on my back for longer than 5 minutes, then stars will start dancing in front of my eyes and I start feeling quite nauseous, because my boys press down my blood circulation. So, all I could do is sit in that tub, and as I´m so large, that isn´t pretty comfortable, as well.

But I know a friend of mine had an extra sized tub, and she loved it and even gave birth to her first son in that tub.

I guess it´s different for everyone, but that´s at least my experience.

HelenClyde, normally I just shower, but a few times I have wanted some back pain relief and did a tub of very warm water. Believe it or not, if the water gets high enough on your belly it relieves a lot of the gravity feeling and you can lie on your back in the tub (or with your back laying down on the back of the tub but not the bottom)

We just have a standard tub/shower combo. My DH got me a little shower bench like old people use, and added a hand sprayer, and it has been a lifesaver! I couldn't handle standing even that long.

Like the pp said, I don't mess with baths anymore either, I'm afraid I won't get out! Also, I've used my inlaws huge jacuzzi tub a few times and it still isn't that great, and I can't get comfortable. Even thought it is much bigger than a standard tub, my bell STILL doesn't go under the water [IMG] I think the only real solution is a swimming pool or hot tub for relief.

Just my personal opinion, but I wouldn't remodel something just for pregnancy needs...who knows what will feel good for you, since we're all different. On the other hand, a new bathroom sounds nice! I'm jeaous!

I had a bath the other night for the first time in months. I didn't find it relaxing at all. I can't lay on my back either - I just get light-headed and nauseaus. I even found that leaning on the backrest in the tub didn't help either. I just try to shower and get out before I get over-heated. I do agree with others that a detachable spray would be helpful. You might want to consider renting a shower seat for the short time you would use it.
