What weird things are your 2-3 year olds scared of?

Amy's not scared of anything weird at the moment, but Sarah has developed a fear of watching credits scroll across the TV screen (i.e., when a video is over). When she knows we're coming to the end of a show, she starts crying and demanding that we turn off the TV before the words show up on the screen. It took me several weeks to figure out why she always started crying at the end of her favorite videos.

You sure she is afraid of the credits, or is she just mad because the show is over ?? Mine used to scream when the credits rolled because they knew it meant the end of the show/movie !

Shiny floors (see my other thread ;)!

I can't think of any other "fears" right now.

Alivea is not scared of anything! but Kaytlin is scared of everything that moves. I just bought them a new toy that rolls across the floor, terrified of the thing. Also dogs. She lives with 4 dogs, one of which is a 130lb Great Dane but is scared of dogs  When she was about 1, a dog ran up to her in the stroller and barked, scared the you know what out of her and she has been scared since. We are working on it....she is also scared of sunlight reflecting off the floor....

No, it's definitely the credits. At first I thought she was just mad that the show was over, but she seems really frightened. And as long as we get the TV turned off before the credits roll, she's perfectly content.

 I can not believe a squirell jumped on his back!

Mine aren't that age yet but there is one thing that they were totally freaked out by. I had got this stuffed duck at my baby shower that had cheeks that lit up red and sang the splish splash song and it had wheels on the bottom so it moved around. All I had to do was start to pull it out of the closet and they would start screaming and clutch to me for dear life (I had fun with that :rotflmbo: ). I know, mean mommy!

    The boys have two things...
Anything floating in the tub with them- besides themselves and one toy apiece. If you hand them another toy- the first one goes out of the tub or they are very upset!!!
The second thing is quite the bummer... leaves~!!!! They hate leaves not attached to trees! They hate them blowing in the wind and are visibly scared of it!! The scream leaf, leaf leaf- until I actually go grab it and throw it in the trash!! Not looking forward to autumn around here! Luckily we don't have too many trees that change with the seasons in coastal California!!!

Yeah, what is with fluff in the bathtub or a stray piece of grass floating in there? Scares the you know what out of them!

Mine are now afraid of people knocking on the door. I lit into them a couple months ago when a salesperson came to the door and they answered it. We had the whole "stranger" lecture and they have been petrified of it ever since. WHen they hear a knock they run away yelling, "stranger." Too bad the last five people we have had knocking are kids selling candy for fundraisers!!!

It's not a fear but they have a strong dislike for the vacuum cleaner. They love it when it's off and play with the tubes but get all bent out of shape and leave the room complaining that it's too loud when I switch it on. I guess it's better than the "unplug it a million times while I'm trying to vacuum" phase. Oh, and it's not a noise sensitivity issue since their favorite game now is to scream at the top of their lungs in rooms with an echo (my apologies to everyone else who is using a public restroom when we happen to come in).

Moths. And anything that flys apparently is a moth.
When I ask, she does not know what a moth will do to her, but she doesn't like them and screams blue murder until DH and I get it away or use the fly swatter.

We went through a few weeks of Bea being afraid of car headlights shining in their room. Took me a few days to figure out what "A picture came in the room" was all about. She's still afraid of loud noises, crowds, and people invading her personal space. Oh, and they both flipped out about a dog at someone's house.

Hair cuts and animals are the first things that come to mind. He loves pictures and shows about animals but the minute he sees the real thing up close, he gets very scared and yells "hold me mommy".

bugs, bees, flies, moths.... all flying insects freak them out. because at daycare another girl freaked out over a bee, ever since, they are terrified of flying insects.

granted, i'm not a big fan of bees, since i'm allergic, and i'm fearful they could be allergic too. but otherwise i guess it's not that strange, just annoying.

  16. My twins were terrified of my 9 month old nephew!! when he crawled toward them they would squeal and run away!! it was hilarious we videotaped it. Poor baby he was harmless....

Ever since the 4th of July, my A.J. is terrified of fireworks or anything that makes a loud sound like that. We got something in the mail last week and it had bubble wrap in it. He hated me snapping the bubbles. Momma, No!! Quite funny to me. they are both afraid of scary Halloween masks. we went in a Halloween store over the weekend and tried on some masks for them. They cried. We will not be doing that again. I hope Halloween isn't too tramatic for them.

LOL, in my case, the question "what AREN'T they afraid of?" would be more appropriate.

    We're afraid of:

    FUZZ
    lawnmowers/lawn equipment
    dogs
    vacuums
    public toilets (they're loud)
    bugs
    strangers (not a bad thing)
    sleeping with the door closed
    swimming pools
getting water in their ears at bath time

My girls are afraid of the fuzz that comes off their big fluffy carpet in their room. They freak out if a loose piece gets on them or anything of theirs. They are also afraid of flies and dogs, even though we have an 80 pound black Lab at home. I don't think they realize she is a dog!
