My mom and aunt are going shopping this weekend to get the boys some gifts. Im having trouble with the older two as well as Ty so I thought I would come here to see what your 12+ month olds loved that might be new since I had a 1 year old in 2005.

So far I have the Vtech Blender , Vtech Sit to Stand Alphabet Train , My Pal Scout , Tubby Tug Bath Toy and my sister got him Vtech Bounching colors Turtle . I have a Laugh and Learn home, dog, and chair and table from when the boys were little. I know alot of new toys have come out in the last few years so if anyone can help me and give me a few ideas. We also have clothes, puzzles and books and a wagon for Ty. Neither will do gift cards or anything like that so Im really needing some toy suggestions.

What was your LO fav toys for 12m and beyond?

You can check the sticky on top... otherwise any kind of ride on/rocking toy.

Here is the sticky Fran mentioned with some toy ideas.
I would also agree with walk to ride toys, you can never go wrong with books, mine loved a stuffed Big Bird that went "peek a boo" and laughed, play phone,
    shopping cart, lawnmower

Maybe my guys are just geeks (like their mama!), but they adore flash cards. We got all 4 sets from One Step Ahead around 12 months and they still love them. They ask to play with them all the time, they pick out their favorite objects (car and dog, especially), they take them out of the box, put them back in the box, lather, rinse, repeat. ;)

They're also helpful for learning words, but these have seriously been the "toy" with the most staying power.

For us a tent has been a big hit - that they can crawl in and out of, hide in, take toys in and out of, etc. They also really like anything that is like something we use - a remote control, a phone, a little laptop! Honestly, the most enduring toys we have had are things like plush chairs and bean bags, and basic toys like shape sorters, Elmo's mailbox, and mega blocks.

Tunnels and tents are great indeed - just don't get one of those that have a frame kept in place by velcros... unfortunately it's all we have and they spend more time taking the frames out than playing inside the things...

Thanks ladies.. I did check the sticky at the top but most of the ideas were for babies that were almost 2 years old. Ty is almost 1 and while I do want to get him something he can grow into I want him to be able to enjoy it now too. He already has ride ons from his brothers and we have the tents and tunnels too. Looking for something that he can sit and play with. maybe another learning toy or something. Something that will keep him interested.

I don't have time to find it online, but both of mine loved the Fisher Price mailbox they got for their first birthday. Also, the LeapFrog Alphabet Pal (mine started enjoying that around 15 months, though), and the Playskool ball popper (though it terrified them for the first few times as it is rather noisy!).

I also agree with any ride on/push toy, shopping cart, vacuum, lawn mover, etc. They also have started to love Little People. Anything Sesame street is a hit too. Books are always good.
