What vitamins do you use?

I always thought that if the boys got a varied diet then they didn't need vitamins. But they have been sick so much that decided they needed a boost. At the moment I give them Pedi-vite???? Forgot! Anyway they are drops. And since I started them they really have not been as sick - but this could also be due to spending the summer in Canada and so no constant a/c or nursery bugs around. But read something recently which said a lot of the shop sold vitamins aren't that good and it is best to use natural ones.

So was wondering if anyone could recommend a really good natural vitamin for 19 month olds and a 3 year old? Thanks for any info.

Researching vitamins has been tough and I don't really know what to trust. I use Yummi Bears, which are gummy vitamins that I buy at Whole Foods. It does seem to increase their immunity to illness! :)

Because my DD has low iron, we have to use Poly Vi Sol with iron..it smells awful and according to DH tastes awful. However, we put it in her cereal in the morning and she eats it right up. I asked my pediatrician if we could start gummy vitamins and she recommended we wait until they were two. I can't wait until we can use the gummy vitamins for Flintstones ones.

Our pedi gave us a script for vitamins with flouride. There was this issue when I was getting them filled because he said he did not want the ones that contain iron as they wouldn't take it. After going in circles, the pharmacist said they DID have the vitamins with NO iron. Great. Right?

Nope-got home and gave them the vitamins. It was smooth sailing for two seconds until BOTH of them spit them right out. And they've done this each time I've given it to them-so I think there is iron in the vitamin...

    All that said...

I have been taking Flinstone gummies as my vitamin. The other day I gave the boys each one-and they LOVED them. They also ate them just fine. So Nancy-you may be able to try it with your kids.

So did our's. I put the drops in their morning milk and they drink it all up without any problems. I'd talk to your pedi about which vitamines are appropriate for your 3 year old and 19 month old (they might need different ones). GL!

I agree with Leighann in that you should talk to your ped. and see what they recommend. :good:

We used Poly Vi Sol with iron until they were two and then started with the gummy vitamins.

I haven't been using any, but I'm planning on asking our new pediatrician at our next appointment in 3 weeks.

We use the Yummi Bears from Whole Foods, or another natural brand from our local natural foods store (called Vitamin Cottage... if you have one nearby, go there and they'll spend an hour telling you all about the vitamin choices). If your kids are getting sick, probiotics might help to regulate the bacteria and enzymes in their stomachs and internal systems, which can prevent illnesses. I buy powdered probiotics and sprinkle it in milk or on applesauce.
