I'm just curious to find out which veggie you all gave your kids first. Our ped recommends yellow veggies to start, and unless I'm having a blonde moment, that means squash (ick). Is there another yellow veggie I'm missing (besides corn)? I just hate the idea of feeding them squash first when I find it so gross. Thanks!

    Mmm, squash is yummy! [IMG]

Sweet potato or carrot. You might want to try squash anyway, they might really like it. [IMG]

We actually started(cereal, green veggies, yellow/orange veggies, fruits, meats) with green veggies as they aren't as sweet as yellow/orange veggies. We did green beans first and now my girls eat everything!

We actually tried avocado first and it went okay. Just this morning, we tried sweet potatoes, and it was a HUGE hit. Morgan was crying at me when I didn't get his bite in fast enough.

We did sweet potatoes first and then butternut squash. I personally don't like squash but it was all my kids favorite. Now the older boys don't like it but DD still LOVES it. In fact it is one of the few things I can count on her eating.
Hold off on corn until they are used to eating it is a bit harder on the digestive system.

Sweet Potatoes with DS1. I have heard that it is better to start with squash first though since it isn't so sweet. Either way, it didn't affect my son's taste he loved them both.

We started with Avocado. They loved it then, and still do. I followed the diet outlined in the book Super Baby Food. It made it so much easier for me.

I started with peas because I HATE PEAS! [IMG]

I wanted to make sure that they got to try it regardless of wether I liked it or not. All 3 of mine started with this disgusting vegitable..and all 3 love them. [IMG]

Our pedi recommended the orange veggies first, then the green. We have tried sweet potatoes, squash and carrots..DS loves them all. Then we tried peas...he liked that too. Next was green beans and he hates them! lol! I think I will try mixing it with the rice cereal to dull down the taste so he can get used to it gradually. We have also tried applesauce and they both only like that mixed with their oatmeal right now...it's a bit tart so I think that's why they didn't take to it right away.

Our ped said it makes no difference what order you go in (which I agree with), but we started with sweet potatoes too.

Corn is supposed to be harder to digest (and a potential allergy risk) and is not recommended till 9 months or so, though some of the stage 2 foods include it.

we did carrots, then sweet potatoe, then peas, then butternut squash. Our pedi said to do fruit first for a month, then add vegi's. But I did only vegi's for a month because they aren't as sweet as fruit. I heard that if you start with fruit, you'll have a much harder time getting vegi's in. Now my kids like vegi's SOOOOOO much better than fruit.

Exact same order we went (except we haven't started meats yet), and my guys will eat anything too.
