What type of car do you have?

    Hi,
Yesterday we took our 9 week old boys out for the first time to the mall. Foolishly, we never tried to put the stroller (Graco Duoglider) in the car before then. I have a 9 year old Saturn SC2 which is a 3 door coupe. It just fit in the trunk with no room to spare. That means going anywhere that we might need to bring anything else is going to be very hard. There is no room between the car seats. We used to go out with my 86 MIL but now we can't-there is no where to put her!

What type of car do you have? Van, SUV or a sedan. Do you like it? Does it have a lot of room? How many people does it fit? With the way gas prices are our main concern with SUV's and vans is the mpg.

    Thanks!!

We have a 2006 Toyota Rav 4 and the duoglider takes up almost the entire trunk. We're looking for a smaller stroller. With the infant carriers in the two side seats, there is room for a very skinny person to sit in the middle seat. But with our convertible seats, there is barely room for a diaper bag. When car shopping, I would take your car seats with you. Personally, I wish we had a mini van. When people come to visit us, we have to take two cars or they have to drive (everyone else seems to have vans or big SUVs!). HTH!

My husband and I drive the same car! We both drive older E300s (mercedes midsize sedan with diesel engine). THe duoglider fits great in the trunk, with room for a bit of stuff around it. We'll probably get a more compact stroller for traveling with if we ever travel again. ;)

It fits two adults up front, we have two snugrides in the back. Someone small can fit between the snugrides--a child or a small adult. I rode back their to their first pediatrician's appt.

If you're car shopping, I definitely recommend bringing your stroller with you!!

We have the 2005 Rav 4. We manage to put what we need in there-somehow. But it doesn't hold much besides a stroller in the trunk! We've just put stuff on top of it. And there is no way anyone can fit in between the two car seats in the back!

When baby #3 comes along-a new car(minivan) will be following suit!

We have a 2002 Ford Explorer. It has a 3rd row seat that folds up and down, so you can use it if you need it. The middle seat fits all three carseats across. Our Duoglider fit very in the back.

I have the Durango. With the stroller in the back there isn't much room for anything else. The twins take up the third row & their cousin(7) can sit between them if she comes with us. That puts Cody in the second row. If we get groceries, they go in that row if the stroller is with us. The gas isn't as bad as it was with my exterra. We had more trunk space with it, but no third row.

We have a honda odyssey van. Love it! I have the duoglider and a single stroller in the trunk with room to spare. I have older ds and one twin in the 3rd row and one twin in the second row. We removed the 2nd captain's chair in the second row so we have lots of room to load the kids in, put all the groceries, diaper bags, whatever. If we need to take another person we just put the captain's chair back in(I can do it myself). Good luck in your hunt!

We bought a Honda Pilot after our twins were born and I absolutely love it. My husband did lots of research on SUVs and the Pilots had the best reviews and ratings of most that we looked at. It seats 8 but we currently have our 3rd row folded up since no one ever sits back there. We keep our babies in the second row and an adult can comfortably sit between them. Good luck car shopping!

I have a 2007 Chrysler Aspen. I love it! It has a third row that i keep folded down so I can keep 2 double strollers in the way back and still have room for groceries. I have Britax Boulevards in the middle row and there is still room for me to sit between them if I need to (and I'm pretty tall). It's not too terrible on gas. Have fun shopping...

Honda Odyssey. Fits the twins and my toddler perfectly with lots of trunk space for even 2 strollers. The gas mileage is as good as some larger sedans.

We have an '03 GMC Yukon (the shorter one, not the XL) and it works fantastic for us. I can get the stroller, both exersaucers, PNP's, diaper bag, bumbos, and many toys in the back with no problem (we took out the 3rd seat to do this of course). Right before they were born we had an '01 Jeep Grand Cherokee...SO glad we traded it in for the Yukon or we would have had a tough time making all their stuff fit (and ours if we go out of town).

we have 2006 dodge caravan. It has stow and go seating and lots of room. It's not the coolest van out there, but it is VERY practical, especially if you want more kids and travel alot.

When I became a SAHM we traded in our GMC Envoy for a used Honda Odyssey- the best thing ever! I can't believe we made it 7 months without a van...the gas is great in comparison...even with high mileage, you can't beat a Honda! I can actually get up from the passenger seat, walk back and spoon feed them while DH is driving! It's awesome! And the3rd row is great for diapy changes-when we're stopped of course!

I carry my Duo stroller at all times, 2 umb. strollers and still have room for a weeks worth of groceries without removing any of them! Highly recommended! :bow2:

W just bought a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country last month and I just love it!!! Stow and go seating, and enough space in the trunk for duo glider and groceries!! I have a total of 5 kids when DSD comes to visit. Very roomy and comfortable ride. Gets about 18 mpg on gas. But the way prices are going up it makes it harder no matter what you drive!!!

2006 Ford Explorer here and I love it! Not quite as much as my Honda Accord Coupe, but a nice ride anyway ;) It's got the fold down third row seat and that's really helpful, plus we're able to fit all of the stuff we cart around no problem

I had to switch vehicles for the exact reason...stupid double stroller wouldn't fit in the trunk unless I dismantled pretty much the whole thing and that wasn't going happen!

Eveyone thought it was going to be the carseats that did me in, but it was the stroller!

We aer in the same boat with Hyundai Elantra. I want a van and that is on the list of things to do. I don't want an dSUV as they are so big to run around and do errands in, I don't want to drive a bus. Minivans now have pretty good gas mileage my sister's oddessy has a thing that on teh freeway it shuts off a cylinder so it gets more mpg. I also love her stow and go seating.

Driving a Hyundai Accent (4 door) right now but we will be making an upgrade later in the year probably to a Mazda 5. Just found out we are expecting again and there is no room in the backseat to put another car seat ;) I have a duoglider as well and the only part I have to take off is the front tray (the front canopy is off usually since I only use the stroller at the mall and don't need it...my other stroller a Maclaren fits great) and with that tray off fits in my trunk fine.
