So, usually around 5ish, our guys start getting really fussy and grumpy and I have to hold them off from feeding them until 6ish and sometimes it's a real challange, especially since I'm here by myself until 5:30/6pm when DH gets home. There is one toy that I can almost always count on to turn my grumps into happy babies.....what's your secret???

just mommy breaking out in song... lately it's been "it's the end of the world as we know it" by rem... they immediately stop crying and just listen and then when I stop they immediately start crying again lol... so I sing until they are asleep or the bottle or boob is in mouth...

Forget Mommy! Daddy is the star of our 5-7 cranky/fussy time. They just watch him go back and forth in the kitchen and if he leaves the room, they cry for him. If they are really fussy, he just has to sit down with them and talk about his day. It's adorable!

GREAT song! I've got it burned on one of my CD's in the car right now. You get extra points if you have memorized and can sing all the words! Appropriate song for having twins, that's for sure- lol

    This:

    play gym

It is a hand-me-down from DD. She loved it too. They just have to see the star, and they start smiling and cooing!

We have that puppy, too - it was a fave of DD's - I haven't brought it out for the boys yet... I guess it's time!

Not a toy, but I have three sure-fire tactics to make my babies laugh, even if they're in a really grumpy mood. First, I sing "If you're happy and you know it, say amen" -- and then say amen in a funny squeaky voice. For some reason, this is unbearably funny, LOL.

Second, I do an exaggerated fake sneeze. And third, I blow rasperries on their cheeks or belly -- this works EVERY time!

Ah yes, that is why we had to give them bottles and then feed them 2 hours later they would never make it but still we do daddy time which they love and if they are really cranky mommy steps in (from cooking, cleaning, etc) and we do raspberries and silly songs.

During the day my secret weapon when I am alone and no matter what they won't quiet down........My friends tigger and pooh...works everytime like a charm.

[SIZE=10pt]Usually just getting down on the ground and being a 'jungle gym' for them. They love crawling over us. They'll get over and laugh, laugh, laugh ~ then go over again. This can go on for about half an hour.

Singing and reading stories is almost as good too.

An all time favorite though has to be turning on "The Backyardigans" ~ they don't 'watch' it persay...but they listen to the singing and voices. DD dances along and DS looks all over the room...kinda like he is looking for Pablo, Tyrone, Uniqua, Austin and Tasha to play with. SO cute!!

    April :)

My little boy loves this mobile. When he is fussy and the swing wont work, me holding him, feeding him, etc. I put him in his crib turn on the closet light and play this guy, it's amazing!!!! he goes to sleep 1/2 way through. It automatically goes off after 15 minutes.

    Good topic though!!

Mine just love playing on the floor. We haven't really had any desparate times that I can think of. But if one gets a little fussy a bottle or their big sister usually are close by to nutralize the situation real fast. I think that the most they have ever cried is for nap time or bed time and they usually go down at the same time every day and sleep all night. I am so happy with that!! :D

    Lots of love!

Mine get crabby in the evenings, but nothing Daddy can't fix usually :). He throws them around in the air & they just squeal with delight! However, when either one of us is alone, it seems like it's not TOYS to keep them happy. Their toothbrushes & medicine syringes are the 'toys' of choice at that time. Oh, and being naked!!

mine love it when you lay them on the floor side by side and flap a blanket up in the air and let it land on their faces then whooosh it off fast. The sound effects mommy makes after "whoooshing" the blanket off their faces also helps! Cheap entertainment!

books with music. i have a few books with music and there are songs inside... they love those, and can sit still for quite some time while mommy sings (not well lol) . or DH. i think that by the time he comes home they're so sick of me, they get so excited to see him!

OMG we have that psycho dog too!! And they love it... though I hate it when for some mysterious reason it starts to sing and say "Peek a Boo I see you" at 3 in the morning and I think the dog is possessed!

But the boys love it and that's all taht matters and it will shock them out of a crying fit (most of the time!)
