Hi - I need a little shopping advice!

I'm looking for cute fall clothing to put on my girls for an outdoor photo shoot on October 23. We live in the Northeast US so it could be chilly... and by then probably pretty brown, since we are at or near "peak" for fall foliage right now.

I've scanned dozens of websites... the major department stores, plus the high-end smaller stores... I can't decide what to put on the girls! Part of me thinks something frilly & tulle-y would be adorable, but they really aren't yet frilly or tulle-y girls. (Thought this was cute, but is it fall-outdoor appropriate? I don't really think so... Click here link ) I kind of like the smocked dresses out there, but they also seem a little old-fashioned. Finally - I really like them in bold dark colors (dark pinks are great on them!) not pastels...

ANYWAY - what are your favorite go-to websites for shopping for your twins? Especially girls..?

    Thanks in advance!

Is this going to be casual? Or do you REALLY want them to wear dresses? My older two girls while girly aren't super girly and look better in pants than dresses. I always do casual so personally I would get some cute dark jeans with darker pink/brown tops or pink/brown outfits. Maybe lighter blue/dark brown colors. I would stick to the same colors for dresses as well. I LOVE Carters. In store and online. Though I typically get a better deal in store. You can also check Children's Place. They usually have bold fall clothes.

For my girl's fall shoot last year around her 1st birthday, I did 2 different outfits. They were also outside and the leaves were pretty much gone, but it was still beautiful! I had her in a tutu with fall colors and a onesie with similar colors - super cute!! then changed her into brown corduroys and a cute shirt with with fall colors. I've been looking everywhere for this years pictures and having a heck of a time.

I love the Tutus or petticoats in pics....

    Tutus!!

I think you can still make it "fallish" (for cool weather) if you add some long cute tights underneath and have a dressy style long sleeve onsie or something like that.

    Thanks ladies!
I'll look thru the tu-tu idea again... but also love the idea of the jeans.
Can't wait to see how they turn out!

I agree with the tutu! I've seen videos online on how to make one if you wanted to try that. You could get some oranges, reds, and yellows. That would look neat. And if you wanted you could maybe get black leggings underneath.

Here our the photos from my boys one year photo shoot-which was taken in November in Mass in 2008:

And here are the most recent photos, where Annabella was wearing a tutu(I got it off etsy-complete with onesie, headband, and flower as well for $40):

I like the idea of going with fall colours to suit the fall theme - so purple, dark pink, orange, brown, red, yellow and similar colours would be my choice for outfits. I think for a fall photo shoot you'll probably want to put them in warmer, "sturdier" outfits as opposed to frilly tu-tu's (which I think would be nicer for spring/summer shots). If you want a casual look, I would recommend some cords and long-sleeved shirts with a cozy sweater and/or coat. Old Navy has really cute coats for fall/winter and they are reasonably priced. If you want to dress them up in something a bit more "girly", then maybe choose a heavier weight dress (like corduroy or wool) like this one or even a sweater dress like this one. Have fun with it and be sure to share the photos with us when they're ready!!

I had matching clothes made by someone on Etsy for our recent photo shoot. A lot of people on etsy sell those cute a-line jumper type dresses and you could get them made in the same color with each girl's name and a different applique to differentiate them. For the fall weather you can pair with a long sleeve onesie and tights. For my boy/girl twins, I got a matching dress and jon-jon with their names. One had a cupcake and the other had an ice cream cone. It was so stinking cute!

    All great ideas! Thanks!!!
I actually found some really cute outfits at Marshall's - with a black fleece coat included with cute buttons at the top - kind of a modified double-breasted swing type coat. I really like them. I think we may schedule another shoot for next spring and we will for sure use the tu-tu thing at that point.
Thanks again for all the feedback.
