What to keep? What to return?

I have been completely humbled by all generosity of people during this economic times. However, I feel like I am bursting at the seems with all this baby stuff. I think that I will need to return some items. Do I need more than......keep or return?

    26 bibs
24 cloth diapers for burp rags
    28 receiving blankets

I have clothes out of the wazoo. I kept all the tags on and put them in space bags in the right sizes. I do not think I will need to buy any clothes for the first year. What am I going to do with all of this?

I would definitely return the majority of the receiving blankets. We mainly used our miracle blankets and that's it. I STILL have some brand new blankets at the top of their closet that they've never used.

I think I would keep the bibs though, we go through a ton of bibs around here!

Wait before you return anything. Personally I didn't use bibs on the girls when they were tiny, but we went thru them like crazy when they started solids at 5 1/2 months (so messy!). I had a mega spitter and had baskets of burp clothes in almost every room. And we used receiving blankets to swaddle when they were tiny, to sleep when they got older (even now!) and I still keep a couple in my backpack to use for diaper changes, clean ups, etc. So you never know. Wait until you have your babies and then you'll be able to assess what to keep and what to exchange. GL with the rest of your pregnancy!

I would keep the bibs and burp cloths. Because once they start getting really dirty you can toss them and have some new ones. The blankets I would cut in half. We used Swaddle Me's and a few receiving blankets and then into pj's they went.

I agree that you will need most of the bibs and burp cloths. I also got a TON of washcloths, so I use those as burp cloths as well...I have them stashed all over the house to use. I still feel like I do baby laundry all of the time anyways...lol!
I found the receiving blankets to be difficult to use for swaddling as the babies got bigger. I would return half of them. I use them to cover swings, bouncy seats, my lap, etc since one of my little guys has reflux in order to protect them and keep them clean.
    Congratulations!

You can never have enough bibs and burp clothes especially with the way babies spit up. I know our bibs came in handy after we started solids, for some reason orange food (sweet potatoes, carrots, etc) would make ours spit up. I would probably cut the receiving blankets in half. Do you have clothes in varying sizes? I would probably keep the clothes, babies grow like weeds and you never know how soon you'll need to next size up. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

Bibs & Burps are good... you can have them everywhere and not have to worry about laundrying right away...

Receiving blankets... too many. If you can return, I would think about returning before you can't... some places only allow you to return w/o 90 days etc... For swaddling, you'll need blankets much larger than receiving ones, so they can't really be used for that... I loved swaddling... I suppose you could sew two together to get to a better size...

    hope that helps.

I agree with PP - keep the bibs and burp clothes but return good portion of the blankets. As for the clothes I have found that I hardly used the dressy outfits we were given - most of the time they wear them once before they grow out of them. If you got mostly newborn stuff I would return some and get larger sizes or more pj's. Also I had a TON of onsies - of which I hardly used. When they were tiny little newborns I didnt like puting them over thier heads, they wear them all the time now, but I had WAY too many nb ones.

I agree...bibs and burp cloths get yucky over time, so it's best to have extra. They won't be swaddled forever and 28 receiving blankets is a LOT...keep your favorites, return the rest, and buy something else you want/need...:)

I'd return about half the receiving blankets but keep the bibs and burp cloths. We have about 20 bibs and 16 burp cloths and I keep wishing we had more of both! We go through them really fast.

And yeah, I barely used the NB onesies as well; now that they are in 0-3m I am using them a lot more. (Also now that it's warmer, sometimes they'll wear just a onesie and pants, or just a onesie under their Miracle Blanket at night.)

I'd even get more bibs honestly, lol! For the burp clothes, we never used them, but I know some people do.

Receiving blankets, on the other hand... Worst waste of money ever, as far as I'm concerned. I just find them totally useless, especially as most of them come to small to even use as swaddling blankets.

Ditto on what everyone else has said... keep the bibs and burpcloths. I have a lot of burpcloths but I feel like I need more! I use the bibs a lot too because my girls spit up so much and now are drooling a lot, otherwise I'd be changing their clothes all the time. The receiving blankets are sort of pointless as blankets because they really aren't big enough but I use them as burpcloths or to cover something I'm worried about them spitting up on - you could cut them down to size to make more burpcloths if you needed to.

We used the recieving blankets [we had about 20] mostly for swaddling for the first month and a half or two months [I never had the miracle blanket as others speak of]. We did go through quite a few of those because I didn't want to do laundry every day. After the first months, we haven't used them at all. As for bibs go, we've been using them since they were about 3 months old - when they started drooling. They'd drool so much [even now.. I think cause of teething] that it's difficult to keep track of them and continuously wipe their mouths.

We use regular washcloths [MIL purchased about 15 just for the babies] that we use for feeding time. They soak up more than the typical recieving blankets ^_^

I agree with PP, keep everything at first. THEN, see what works best for your situation [some things that work with some moms may no work for others]. After knowing you will never use them, I'd suggest selling on Craig's list or something :)
