I think you can only use saline drops (and use the bulb). For my oldest I use Vicks Baby Rub (3 months +), Sudacare Vapor Plugs (3 months +) and Benadryl (started using that at 3 months as well).

My doctor told me to only use saline drops and the bulb...It stinks because they hate it, but the saline really helps when trying to suck all the gunk out!?

Also if they sleep inclined (like in a bouncer) as opposed to flat, that helps too.

Thanks so much you guys! She went to Walgreens and sure enough the pharmacist told her to get the saline! I will also give her the suggestion of propping little heads!

A humidifier will work wonders too.

Both of mine have colds right now and we've just been using saline and running the humidifier on full blast. It makes a huge difference. My DD hated the saline and bulb until she realized it makes her stuffiness go away, now she sits quietly and lets me do it, no squirming at all and last time I even got a giggle [IMG]
Even if they cry at first they'll probably get used to it pretty quickly.

We also used the Saline (Little Noses specifically), the Bulb, and a humidifier. I would caution you on using the bulb too often. It caused my dd to have a bloody nose from too much suctioning. Hope they feel better soon!

We used saline drops, my doctor said not to suction because their membranes are so fragile. good luck, we liked the little noses.

Ditto the humidifier. We kept ours running constantly for about the first 5 mos. Our dr told us it not only helps when they get sick, but it helps preventing getting sick, too. You might ask your dr on this, but I *think* you can put the saline drops in the humidifier.

You could put Vicks on YOU & snuggle the babies close. They willl get the benefit of some of the fumes but don't put it on them at this age. Ditto on the drops, bulb & humidifor. Good Luck
