Please I need all advice I can get. I am a granny looking after twins now 7 months old.

When I give them manually prepared veggies (pureed) they make themselves throw up. When I give them
Purity they do eat it with a smile.

How is best to prepare home cooked veggies for babies to accept it or is it fine just to continue with
    Purity.

    I'm not familiar with Purity.

I was never able to get the girls to eat my homemade baby food. I just couldn't get it to the right consistency. I had to feed them the Gerber baby food.

I had to look up Purity, as we don't have it in the States. I think it is just the equivalent of Gerber/Beechnut jarred purees?

Anyway, you can certainly make freshly cooked purees, and just water them down(with breastmilk or formula), or thicken them up(with baby cereal) to the consistency that the babies prefer.

I steamed or oven baked most fruits and veggies for purees. Wholesome Baby Food was my guide to making my own baby food. Love that site! Lots of great suggestions!

GL! We are always happy to see grandmas of twins here!

I love wholesomebabyfood.com too. Great ideas. We did mostly jarred purees and then I cooked more and more when they got in to eating table foods.

    :welcome:

Wholesomebabyfood is a great site, but I have to admit to not making my own baby food. We fed them Gerber/Beechnut/Heinz baby foods & they all turned out fine. I do admire anyone who makes their own though!

I had the same problem with homemade veggies at 7 months, I couldn't get the texture down. I gave store bought carrots, peas and green beans but made my own potato and squash and fruit purees.

I thicken them with baby cereals until I reach the right consistency. when my boys don't like my veggies, I change the recipe. Add more of this less of that. Just use my imagination of what might go well together. Keep trying, I am sure you will make it. Good luck!

Thanks to everybody. All advice is appreciated.

Yes in South Africa our Purity product is similar to your Gerber's.

Keep well everybody and enjoy the twins!

What does Mama say? Does the same thing happen to her when she feeds them homemade food?

I fed my older one jarred food and I will do it again with my twins. I admire people who make their own food, but I barely have time to load the dishwasher let alone steam veggies and all that!

I also felt compelled to Google Purity. I am fascinated by the different varieties that you have over there. Some are the same, and some are very different!

I was surprised to see an oats and honey flavor in stage 2. Over here, we are told not to offer honey until a baby is one year old because there is a slight risk of botulism.

When I make sweet potatoes, butternut squash, carrots, I just use the food processor (I bake it in the oven to have for a week or 2 and freeze it) and I try to make it as fine as I can, similar to the jarred baby food. Than I strain it to make sure there are no bigger lumps that they can choke on. It's not as fine as the food from the jar, but they like it and don't fuss about it, especially when they are hungry
