Ok, My Lo's are waking at 5:30 and not wanting to go back down. They were waking at 4 or 5 and would eat, get a diaper change and go back to sleep. Now they have been waking at 5:30 and I tiried feeing them, changing their diaper and putting them back down. Well they won't go back to sleep. I tried leaving them in there for a little while (30-45 min) and they won't go back down, and my DH thinks Im cruel for doing that. The problem is by 7:30 they are soo tired and the rest of the day is off. A few nights they slept until 6:30-7 so i know they can go longer, their bedtime is 6:30-7. Do others leave their LO's and did it stop the early wake time? I don't care if their wake time is 5:30, but I also don't want to start an early wake time by going to them.
What is their nap schedule during the day? Are they happy after you feed them and diaper them? If so, I might just keep doing that and putting them back to bed with hopes of them learning to go back to sleep or at least catching some zzzz's myself.
I try and follow the HSHHC. They nap around 8:30-9 for about 45-1 hr, they nap again around 12 for 1.5 -2 hours and nap again around 4 (45 min) and go to bed around 6:30-7. Their nap schedule has been great. They are happy after they feed, but about 15 min later they are crying. I also notice when Im on duty (24 hours) and my DH is home they don't wake up. My DS has this hysterical cry he does until I go and get him. He did it to me yesterday ( I just got off duty).

My twins go to bed at 830 and wake up 7-730. maybe move bed time later? Just a suggestion.
this is a tough one because i guess 5:30 could be considered a wake up time for the day... are they eating a lot when you feed them at 5:30? what happens if you don't go in right away to feed them? are they just talking or are they crying? my DD went through a phase like this but was waking earlier, 4:00 am. she wasn't hungry so i let her CIO. it only took 2 nights for her to stop waking, or if she did she went right back to sleep w/o crying. now DD and DS sometimes wake up at 5:30-6 (our get out of bed time is 7:30) but they are just talking to eachother so i let them be, they usually fall asleep again before it is time to get up. sorry this wasn't more helpful, sleeping issues are SO confusing... good luck.
My boys go to bed 6:30/7 and from 8 months to 17 months woke up between 5 and 5:30. They did their first nap around 8:30/9 and went to sleep after lunch. They would even sneak in a cat nap around 4 sometimes. I'm sorry to say, they may just want to get up that early. Now for the good news. Since 18month (and DST) my boys now sleep 12 hrs and I get an extra hour or two of sleep too! Hang in there!
One thing I've noticed is that they usually wake up for the day about 11 hrs after they're put to bed. Mine [usually] wake around 0730-0800 and we usually start bedtime around 2000-2030 [so they're in bed by 2030-2045]. Btw, mine aren't STTN yet but they are teething really bad now.. I hope STTN is in our near future ^_^
