I'm running a fever, sneezy, coughing and auntie flow is here. I basically can get out of bed to go to the bathroom, obviously feed the girls and change them. DH works 12 hour days and can't call off sick and I have absolutely no one that can help me...everyone lives out of state. I just don't have the energy to play with the girls today. What can I do with them while I'm ill?

You just do what you have to do. Put some toys in your bed and let them play while you rest, but try not to fall asleep. You never know when they will decide to learn to roll or scoot off the bed! Maybe lay on the couch and let them play on the floor or in a swing/bouncy seat. You are lucky that they are still at an age where they aren't able to get into trouble if you can't pay attention quite well enough. Hope you feel better soon!

Oh bless you, i hope you feel better soon!! It's AWFUL being Mummy when all you need is your bed.
I haven't been 100% since i gave birth! 6wks after my section i had to have my gall bladder out, since then every cold the girls pick up (they've had 4) i have caught too and it's hard soldiering on. Aunty flo is in town here too, she is a witch! lol

Just try and not stress about what you should be doing, have a lazy day. So long as the girls are fed and napping well everything else can wait till your better. I no some people don't agree but i found the baby channel a godsend, stick the babies in swings or bouncies and you can have time to recupperate on the sofa. Maybe let them laytogether on the floor gym to mix it up abit. Hopefully they will behave for you

Oh thank you ladies! I feel so bad for not being able to give 100% to them. They are napping now so hopefully they will be down for a while. My dh said that a couple lazy days so I can recuperate is not going to hinder their development but I still feel like an awful mommy.

Of course it wont, what is a couple of days in the great scheme of things? You can't be supermum everyday you know! My girls seem to love playing together on the floor, so sometimes i just leave them to it. I caught Amber on camera stroking her little sisters head the other day, so cute!
    You rest up!

Sleep when they sleep. Let them have some floor time and you can lay with them. Take it easy. They might just enjoy a nice quiet day too. Feel better.

Yep, he's right! Though I'm sure that's easier to say when you're not the mommy. ;) Hope you feel better soon!

Btw, I'm with you: AF should be starting any day now and I am coming down with a cold (wicked sore throat)!

That stinks! I hope you feel better soon. I caught the cold my girls had, so we had a really laid back day yesterday. Hung out on my bed a good bit and my 4 yr old got to watch more tv than i usually allow! Take it easy - the girls need a healthy mommy, so the best thing you can do for them is to take it easy (I'm not entirely sure that you can, but try at least!)

it certainly is hard to relax when you know you should be doing this and that but i will try because you are all right the girls need a healthy mommy. i just don't want them to catch what i have because it's horrible. they both had colds when they were 1 week old and then again at 4 weeks and we just passed it around that entire time. i definitely do not want to go through that again. taking it easy in bed with the girls. i put some baby einstein on and they are chillin' in their boppys. hope they don't mind the quiet day! thanks all!
