So my little guy has been pinching, biting, pushing and pulling the hair of his sister. I give him time-outs in a chair away from us for 1-2 minutes. He sits there happily and then does the same infraction 5 minutes later after he is out of the chair!!! What do we do now? He really does not mind time out!!! It is not that I want him to siffer, but I am afraid he won't get the message that what he did was wrong. Suggestions!

He is still pretty young. I would say be consistent and keep it up, same spot. I think it will get old for him to be there. If you move the time out spot it may seem like more of a game.

He needs redirection, not timeout. JMHO.

Find another currency. Time outs don't phase my 4yo at all - he happily goes into time-out. But then he'll break the rules again. So I've started taking away his favorite toys or privileges, which he values much more than spending 4 minutes of his life in the corner.

I do similar to Jenny and put the toys in time out. I get much more of a response. Also, if Nate is hitting, slapping, etc. I don't put him in time out as it makes it worse. But I hold him on my lap, not talking, sometimes in the time out chair, but restrained. In the Pocket Parent, they call it the hug hold. That settles him more than time out ever did.

My boys hated being in their rooms with the door shut for time outs at that age.

Also I agree that if it is over a toy or something to put the toy in time out. That always worked well for us.
