You would think that this would be something would have learned already..

Mine are both being SUPER whiney and clingy today. They are over 20lbs, so it isn't like i can hold them both for any period of time. I set one on my lap the other is crying and unhappy... I don't think they are feeling well (rivers of snot coming out of their noses and tons of congestion) because normally they are pretty content babies..

    What do you do...

I try to see if I can find anyone to come over and help me! Either DH or my mom or dad or brother, friend, neighbor, etc. If all else fails I just get through it the best I can. I try to keep everyone as happy and comfortable as possible and if it gets overwhelming I take a bath when they are sleeping!

When both boys are really fussy and i am on my own I try to sit in the rocking chair and hold one on each side. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. I would also suggest getting extra help if you can. Best of luck

I sit on the floor and cross my legs. Either I put one on each leg or nestle one between my legs and hold the other one. Mine are 22+ lbs so it is not a long term solution but helps calm them a bit.

When they're like that I read books or sometimes I just sit on the floor and try to get them both on my lap and cuddle them and we all cry together. LOL Even though we live with my in-laws right now I really don't have a lot of help and my husband's in training for the Army right now so he'll be gone till February. SO fun. Pretty much books are my salvation. They love books. Anything to take their mind off of misery - Itsy Bitsy Spider, Pat-A-Cake. Sometimes if it's horrid I'll just get up and go to the bathroom for a minute and even though their screaming their heads off because I leave the room by the time I come back (like a minute) they're happy and playing together. Crazy kiddos. Hope they feel better soon!!!

I second having someone come & help if you can. I tended to call my mom or MIL and ask if they wanted to come hold a baby for awhile. If they have a cold, a bit of Tylenol might make them feel less achy & cranky. Other than that, I just muddled through the best I could & hoped tomorrow would be a better day.

So no one else just prays for bedtime and a glass of wine when this happens?

I'd sing for them songs they like, or put some music on (baby mozart or baby vivaldi). what works most is : Mikey Mouse! they are fascinated by this little creature! I move it in my hand while speaking and singing. And instantly: no more cries. It's like magic!

I too sit on the floor with them and hold one on each leg. Sometimes breaking out a new toy (I rotate toys...so one they haven't seen in awhile) may distract them temporarily. Sometimes a change helps - move them to a different room, go out for a walk in the stroller, put them in high chairs with sippie cups, whatever. Both of my girls are teething and apparently experiencing some separation anxiety. i took them out on the screened porch today and they loved exploring it and I got to sit in a chair and not hold a little one for a few minutes.

Good luck - hope it passes soon!

I take them on a walk to the park. It almost always stops the crying. They love to swing on the baby swing together.
