Makana has pretty bad cracle cap and the dr wants me to rub at it and put hydrocortisone on it. I have been working on one spot at a time but he seems discomforted when I work on it cause rubbing doesn't seem to work so I pick and peel it off. But he hates it and there is sooo much of it I feel like it comes back or soemthing. If I were not to do anything would it just eventually go away? Any other suggestions to get rid of it? Micah also has some so I don't want to pick at their heads all day!

I place a lot of baby oil on ds scalp and let it soak in for a good 6-8 hours and then use a comb or brush softly on his scalp. It is a long process each day I just do a little but it is slowly going away.

Hi there was a thread on cradle cap the other day, the ladies swear by Dawn dish detergent. Apparently its very effective.

I use Gentle Naturals. It is in a Winnie the Pooh bottle. I like it b/c it is more natural and not as harsh as dandrff shampoo.

I mixed Aquaphor with hydrocortisone cream and put it all over Jake's head. I did it after his bath right before going to bed. It's the only thing that worked for him. I tried Gentle Naturals, Selsun Blue, baby oil & olive oil and those did not work.

Ditto! Just be careful about not getting in eyes/face.

here is the thread about cradle cap. The Dawn was a miracle worker and it smelled good and didnt make my girls look like grease monkeys.

    Good luck!

I actually had immediate success with olive oil. I just rubbed it on both DS and DD's heads, let it sit for 5 minutes or so, then used a baby comb to comb through it. I then shampooed using the Mustela foam shampoo, which does a great job at keeping cradle cap at bay...best of luck!
