What time is bedtime for your twins?

I'm trying to adjust our schedule to get the boys to bed earlier. My guys don't fall asleep for the night until 10pm. They are taking a short nap from 730-800pm which I think is way too late for a nap. In order to put them down earlier I would have to drop their 830pm bottle and have them go down at 730pm for the night. I'm not sure if they're ready for that yet. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try! So here are my questions...

What time is bedtime for your twins?

What time do they wake up from their last nap?

At 4 months, we were still around 8-830. Now, at 15 months, it's 630, and it has been there since about 8 months, when they dropped that 3rd nap. Good luck!

we were waking ours up the first 2 months to feed them at 9 or 10. we realized that they would still wake up to eat after 3 hours once we woke them up. however, if we let them sleep after 7pm then they would stretch it out longer for some reason. we decided to stop waking them at 10...even though we were not ready for bed at 7. thankfully they started stretching their sleep to 6 hours at around 8 weeks. they are now 14 weeks and go to bed anywhere from 6:30- 7:30 depending on their feeding. they only wake up one time for about 20 minutes (anywhere between 1:30-4)

they say an early bed time is best...i just make myself go to bed by 8:30! :)

they usually nap from 1-3 something and then again around 4:30-5. they cat nap in their swings in the evenings. we wake them by 6:30 to bathe, nurse and bed.

My twins will be 6 months next week, their bedtime is 8:30. However, they adjusted it themselves slowing over the last couple of months. At 3 months, it was between 9:30-10:00 and their last nap of the day ended about 6:00. At 4 months it was around 9:15-9:30 and the last nap was around 5:30. Now their last nap ends around 5:00. It was definitely easier to follow their cues at when they were tired, then trying to force them to sleep earlier.

Our guys get up from their afternoon nap around 3 or 4. They go to bed around 7 or 8. Sometimes later if we keep them up.

Mine go down anywhere from 6pm to 7pm for the night depending on when they wake up from their 2nd nap. Their last nap is over between 3-4pm. They have been on this schedule for about the last 3 months.

I can't function on a 'specific/set' time for bed as I would go crazy....

I have more of a day to day routine that we follow and I would say they go down for the night anywhere from 6 pm to 8:30pm latest and they sleep until around 6:30/7:30 am.

I have friends (singletons) that think I'm crazy but in the day and the life of raising twins, it just works for us and my guys sleep through the night doing it this way...

10 pm is WAY too late for bedtime. I'd try to bump it earlier, even if that means rearranging feedings a bit. When they're hungry, they'll wake up and let you know. ;)

We start the bedtime routine at 6, DD is always asleep at 7, DS usually by 7:30 (though he sometimes takes longer). DD usually needs her next feeding around 4:30 am, DS might need one at 1 am, but sometimes goes until 4-ish. Bedtime has been constant for a couple months now.

As to when they wake up from their last nap, it really varies. I don't nap them by the clock, I put them down when they're tired (usually after 1.5 hrs awake), and they sleep til they wake up. Some days they'll have 4 naps of 45 min each, some days they'll have 2 naps of 1.5-2 hrs and a 3rd catnap... It all depends what they need. They may wake up from their last nap at 3:30, they may wake up from a last nap at 5...doesn't affect bedtime or their night sleep either way.

I think our little guys are about the same age and this is how our nights try to go (not always perfectly). Nurse at 6:30, bath routine at 7:00, a little tummy time to get out the extra gas, or a story and then between 7:45 and 8:00 I put them in the crib. They usually fuss for about 5 minutes sometimes I have to go in once or twice just to let them know I'm still there and they are usually asleep by 8:15. They still get up around 5 or 5:30 to eat real fast but then they go back to sleep until about 9:00. I would start trying it, DH and I love the extra alone time we get now at night. Mine are almost 14lbs I'm sure yours are close to that if not more so I think you will be surprised how long they can actually go without eating if they are sleeping good. Good Luck

We go to bed at 6:45-7:00ish, unless it was a bad nap day then more like 6:15. They get up at 6:30 -7:00 am. Naps are at 9am and 12:45-1:00, and they sleep anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours each. We are in an awkward stage at the moment because they're eliminating the 3rd nap (catnap) and going to bed a little earlier, but also waking a little earlier..they used to sleep closer to 7:30.

At that age, mine would go down at 6:30ish and we would dream feed them at about 10:30/11pm. It worked well for us.

It looks like a lot of these babies go to sleep early, but still need a feeding during the night or wake up at 6:30 in the morning. My twins go to sleep a little later, but they sleep from 8:30 until 8:00 the next morning which works better for me since I'm not a happy morning person!

Our girls are 8 months old and in bed by 7pm every night. Wake up from last nap of the day is between 4-5pm.

My guys have been going to bed between 6 and 7 since they were 2 months old. They used to wake for a feeding around 11 then again at 2:30 or 3:00 and then again at 6:00 a.m. Eventually they started dropping feedings. An early bedtime is good for babies and mummies! I think if they're napping in the late evening they may as well be in bed for the night and just wake to feed.

For the last month or so, we have been working on a 7pm bedtime, Jake is sometimes earlier because he is a HORRIBLE NAPPER and Becca is sometimes later. Since I went back to work at 4months, we have been trying to get them down b/t 7 and 8 pm.This works because they get up around 6, 6:30am so I get to see them in the morning.

We follow their cues. I notice they have been doing better at night since we have worked harder on a 3 nap a day schedule. They are 8 1/2 months old.

Everything I've heard says that early bedtimes are good for babies -- and most people I know have kids that go to bed somewhere between 6 and 7:30pm.

But, DH and I are such night owls, that we would be miserable if we had kids that woke up at 6 or 7am for the day....our older DD was a great sleeper from a very early age (2 months), but her bedtime has always been around 9:30pm. Starting at 6 months, she would sleep for 12 hours from whenever we put her down, so we *loved* putting her down at that time, since she'd sleep in until 9:30am....she napped well during the day, too.

Now, at age 3, she needs to get up at 8am to go to preschool, so her bedtime is 8 pm if she hasn't napped, but if she HAS napped, then she doesn't fall asleep until 10pm, even though we put her down earlier.

Anyway. Our little ones are 3 months old, and they go to bed around 9:30pm -- like yours, they catnap from about 7:30 to 8:30pm, then we get them up and do some playtime, some tummy time, baths, feedings and bed. My little girl sleeps through the night about 10 or 11 hours, and my little guy wakes once to eat in the middle of the night (he just had surgery for feeding issues, and still needs to eat then) -- but I expect he'll drop that feeding pretty soon.

I always wondered why early bedtimes are a must, as long as the kiddos are getting enough sleep....?

Wow, 10pm is really late! Our last nap ends at 3:30 and the boys are in bed no later than 7pm (they're 10mo).

At 4 months their last nap ended around 4:30 and we put them to bed at 6:30pm. Owen (amazingly) slept through the night at this age. Ben would wake at 2am and 5am for feedings.

I think it's wise to start gradually pushing up the bedtime. It makes life easier on them AND you :) .
