We have been doing an 8:00 bedtime for about 3 yrs. They usually get up around 7ish. We no longer do any kind of nap. I'm just wondering what everyone else is doing for a bedtime at this age and how long do your kids sleep?

    TIA

Hi there! Mine are not yet 4 but I'm probably not going to change bedtime. They go to bed at 8 and it works well. On the nights when they stay up later, they don't sleep any later and they're much crankier! I don't anticipate changing bedtime for quite a while!

Between 7:30 and 8:30 depending on their day, their level of crankiness, whether we need a bath, how long dinner takes, and so on. I prefer earlier to later, and they do better with more sleep, but some days we just can't them into bed until closer to 8:30. I don't see that changing anytime soon, but who knows. DD doesn't nap much at all, unless I lay down in her room to keep her still and in bed until she can fall asleep on her own. DS will nap about half the time. I don't think they nap much at school.

At 3.5 mine are napping about an hour and going to bed around 8:30 (often not asleep till 9 or 9:30). I'm hoping to move bedtime up to 8:00 when they stop napping, so you are right where we'll (hopefully) be in 6-12 months.

Mine are in bed at 8pm (mostly asleep within 15 minutes or less) and up at 6:30am for school. Because the weather is extremely hot, they're usually drained and take a nap in the afternoon from 1:30 - 3:30pm. Most everyone didn't think they would sleep as early as 8pm after a two hour nap, but they do. Maybe because they're out playing non-stop between 5-7 and get tired out.

So 12 hours of sleep total.

No naps for my girls, because if they have so much as a 30min nap, they are up until 10pm. Bedtime ranges anywhere from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. I aim for 8pm. They wake around 6:30 - 7am.

The girls' bedtime was 8:00 for the longest time, but I've noticed that they go to sleep faster if we wait until 8:30.

No naps. Bedtime starts about 7 so they are in bed by 7:30. We have to get up tp take Annie to school so they must be awake by 7:30 at the very latest. On preschool days I wake everyone up at 6:30.

They are usually in bed by 8:30 and asleep by 9 but it all depends if they fall asleep during "quiet time."

They will wake up between 7 and 8 AM.

We start bath at 7:15 and are usually in beds with lights out by 7:45... Usually it is quiet by 8:00. I wake them up at 7:00 each day and they do quiet time at 12:30 to 2pm each day. They usually end up sleeping the last part of quiet time, but I don't let them go past 2pm napping unless they are sick. So on average they get about 12 hours a day of sleep. Love It!!

When they don't take a nap, which has been our goal...8pm. They sleep until around 7am.

Mine go to bed at 8:30--they are asleep within minutes of lying down--I know because I'm there with them. They get up at 7 am. Like Anne, it's VERY hot here right now from 1 to 3 and they usually nap on the way home from school at 2:30, it's a 30 minute trip. They will sometimes nap another 30 minutes in the house after we get home.

Well when they still had a daily nap they went down at 9 PM. Now that they do not get a nap they go down between 7-8 PM.

my DD who is gonna be 4 at the end of the month takes about a 1.5 hr nap and usually is in bed around 9 but if no nap then it is usually 8-8:30, and doesn't get up until 8am, so it's around 12 hrs for her.

Mine don't nap. We start bedtime around 7pm and everyone is usually asleep by 7:30-7:45. I love the early bedtime, and I am dreading the day they start going to bed later!!!!!

    We have no naps.
When I'm home putting the boys to bed, they're usually in bed between 7 and 7:30.
When I'm at work and DH is in charge, they're usually in bed around 8-8:30.
In the morning they are up any time between 6 and 7.

I think John went to bed at 8 and now at 7 its 8:30. I think my 8 or 9 years I will up it to 9. 8pm-7am is a good amount of sleep for little preschoolers.

Until the girls were 4, it was in bed by 8:00pm. Now at the latest it is 8:30pm often depending whether or not they took a nap in the afternoon. For a while I thought we lost all our naps but they still will nap 4-5 times a week. Recently, at 2:00pm they remind me it's nap time and go and lay down. One day I was on the phone only to find when I got off they tucked themselves in bed and shut the door. If they nap for two hours, when we put them down at 8:00, they will chat with each other until 9:15pm.

Typically all three of my kids go to bed by 8 PM. Liam still naps, but Nolan and Meghan do not. If they have fallen asleep, it takes AGES to get them to actually fall asleep in bed. They usually get up between 7-8 AM.
