What time do YOU eat dinner?

Before the girls came along I liked to eat dinner as early as possible. Due to the fact that DH comes home around 6pm when he works the day shift that was the time we usually ate. Now we eat after the girls go to bed so we eat around 7:30pm. It is just too crazy during their witching hour to eat or even make something.

I am just curious what time YOU eat. Do you eat while your babies are awake or when they go to bed? If you eat while they are awake what do you do with them? Bouncy chairs? Exersaucers? High chairs?

    Thanks!

We don't eat until 8 or 9 pm,(sometimes I don't eat at all) b/c I don't get home from work until 7 and then it is bath, bottle, bed. I usually eat a very late lunch so that I can go and not eat at night. I hate eating at 9pm~definately not good for the ol' thighs  :p

We eat together at around 5:30 or 6:00, the girls eat at 5:00 and go to bed at 6:30, they will sit in their bumbos on chairs by the kitchen table when we eat.

We are in the same boat with the witching hour and we have a 2 and a half year old to add to the mix of the "evening rush." So all of the kids get fed and bathed and put down before we even start to cook-or go for take out. We dont eat until about 8:30-9pm. It has been almost 2 years since we have had dinner at the regular hour-argh!

Our girls are in bed around 6:30 so we start cooking then and usually eat anywhere between 7 and 7:30. I HATE eating so late, it makes me feel so gross but it's what's working for now. Once they are on more table food we will all eat around the same time, like 5ish.

We eat around 5. This way we can get our dinner in before any of the older kids games. If not, we would be eating very late and I really don't want to get into that habit. I am a sahm so I try to have everything really organized so that I can get this accomplished. It isn't very easy but can be done.

We usually start cooking after the girls go to bed at 7 so we eat about eight. Sometimes on the weekends we'll eat before they go to bed.

My girls go to bed for the night at 6PM. They sleep from 6-6. DH gets up early, so an early wake up work well for us. Dh and I have dinner together around 7:30. I am trying to figure out how to do a family meal now that the girls are eating more and more finger foods. I think it will have to be family breakfast and family lunch. (well - DH won't be there for lunch).

At that age, like you, we ate after they went to bed. We actually took a long time to come around and eat with them -- just around their 2nd birthday. But I don't recommend it. What I recommend is as soon as possible -- i.e. when they are pretty much eating a lot of solids, to have them at the table with you for the family meal if you can do it. Get them used to sitting down for a meal as early as possible.

But yes, we used to eat like 8:30 PM, DH and I, because we were cooking and eating after they went to bed. A whole different meal.

dh and i eat after the girls are in bed (7:30). that's actually when i start cooking so we don't actually eat until between 8-8:30. i like to be able to just sit with dh and relax, eat talk and watch some t.v. it's part of me and dh's "our time" so i prefer to have that time since i am alone with the girls all day.

We usually eat around 5pm. If dh is home we all eat together. If he is gone I still fix dinner and we eat at the same time anyway. If I am alone and dh is gone I don't usually get to eat my dinner warm but I still sit down and feed the babies and older ds and attempt to eat. It works for us and after dinner they play and we have bath if it's bath night and bottle and they go to bed at 7pm. I don't think we could eat so late on a regular basis besides I don't like eating a heavy meal that late and I am usually starving by 6pm anyway lol. Now if dh and I were to go out on the rare occassion we eat late but it's not that often to really worry about :)

Right now, we usually eat after the girls go to bed. Since I pick the girls up in the evenings after work, I usually do not get home until 6pm. Then it is feed them, bathe them, and put them to bed. However, since DH is the main cook in the house, if he has dinner ready by the time I get home with the girls, we will all sit down together and have a meal.

Sometimes we eat at 5-5:30 otherwise it can be once they have gone to bed so after 7pm for eating. We try to make sure they have had their dinners and are happy playing on floor or in bouncy chairs than we will have our dinner and than they get ready for bed.

We eat at about 5:30 -6 pm. While the babies are eating their food I inhale mine. I don't think I've tasted my dinner in a year! When they were tiny babies I would eat after they went to bed.

For the most part, DH and I eat after the girls go to bed. We both work FT -- all arrive home around 5:45. The girls eat immediately, are in bed by 7, and then DH and I eat. Once or twice a week I try to have leftovers ready (or DH brings home a pizza) so we can all eat together, just for the civilizing aspect.

We don't mind eating late (DH's family generally ate at 8:30-9 when he was growing up!) -- we usually ate around 7:30 before we had kids. But I do like eating together once in a while -- or rather, it's not super fun at this point, but I hope it's building good table skills for the kids! Also, it's kind of nice to have the kids be in bed and then think "I've already had dinner!" It makes it seem like we have more adult time in the evenings.

We eat together around 5:30-6:00. The kids eat finger table foods while we eat and then I supplement them with pureed Stage 3 foods. After dinner, DH gives baths while I clean up and then they play for a bit. Bottle then bed.

Before the boys were born we would eat dinner at 6:30 every night. Now, that is the time I am trying to get them down so we don't eat dinner until around 7:30-8:00. I would rather wait until they are down to eat than have to stop eating several times to take care of something they need.

7.30 - 8.00 pm. My twins go to bed at 6 pm, my oldest at 7 pm and then we eat. My dh doesn't get home until 7.00 - 7.30 pm anyway. I never was an early eater, 7 pm at the earliest. And most European eat way later than that!

We eat after the babies are down for the night. Our early evenings are too busy with feedings, baths, massages, soothing, etc. for us to fit in a grown-up dinner. So we usually eat around 8:00, or later. We're pretending we're European!

We eat around 5:30 - 6pm. Noah and Jake are usually awake and sometimes they cry in their swings while we're eating. Every once in a while, they actually fall asleep for a cat nap while we're eating which makes dinner a little more relaxing.

I should tell you that my DH and I eat very fast. We always have.

After we eat, we have play time and family time. Then it's bottle, change and bed around 8:00pm.

We eat at 5 pm...everyone eats at the same table ( well except DH because he is never home because of the military so he eats whenever he gets home if not deployed ). I feed both babies and myself and my three year old feeds himself whatever I've made for the night. I could never eat late...I'd feel sick and **** Im in bed by 9 usually lol...
