What the heck? Growth spurt?

For about 3 weeks or so Austin has been eating like a horse. Breakfast lunch and dinner are all polished off and 10 minutes later he is freaking out for snacks. The whining for snacks is enough to drive me mental, but I am just starting to worry about how hungry he is all the time. Can growth spurts go on for this long? He has gained quite a bit of weight in the last while too; went from 34 lbs to nearly 36 lbs in the last 6 weeks.

I've found that the girls go through periods like that - several weeks of serious eating & then suddenly they can reach things on the counter. :faint: Honestly, I get more freaked out when the growth spurt ends & suddenly they're back to eating a blueberry for breakfast & a chicken nugget for dinner. ;)

Yes they can!!! And, with boys they will soon eat your house too. Mitchell will go like that anymore...eats like there is no tomorrow and I wait for it to stop and it just goes on forever. Before I know it he has outgrown his shoes/shirts. He gained 5lbs in the past year (huge for him). I don't know where they put it all!

Mine are a month past 4 and have been eating non stop since the fall. I swear it's worse when they were newborns. They will eat breakfast and two hours later complain they are hungry. I try to make them wait until lunch. They go to preschool from 12-2:30 and they have snack time in school.. They come home from school and they have another snack. Two hours later it's dinner. Then every single night 15-30 minutes before bed I hear from both of them that they are hungry. :gah:

If it's this bad now, what will it be like when they are teenagers.

This happens around here, too. I try to incorporate protein in snacks and meals as much as possible so they don't want to eat 45 min after a meal. But we just went trough this and both kids went up a size in shoes. I hope this translates into height - they are in the 7th and 9th percentile as it stands right now.
